Club 24 – anyone got anything yet?

I joined Club 24 a couple of weeks before the 2005 LM. I didn’t get my membership card through the post before the race. However I wasn’t surprised at this because of the short notice of my order. Fortunately they still let me in the marquee behind the pits and let me use the showers and canteen behind the start line grandstands which was the main reason for joining. However, my membership card never did turn up through the post. I expected it to arrive after the race but it didn’t.

I also understand that membership is supposed to include some kind of collectable presentation binder that includes the results and other information from the 2005 race. I haven’t received this yet either. In fact I’ve received diddly squat from them. I could have just saved my 90 EUR, gone to the 2005 race and blagged myself one of the yellow wrist bands that gives you access to the club areas from the marquee behind the pits. They didn’t do any background check on me when I explained my membership card hadn’t arrived yet.

Has anyone else had problems with them?

Strangly enough, I was pondering posting the very same in the near future as I joined in Febuary (likewise, not expecting much before the race) but have heard nothing since bar the e-mail a few weeks ago.

Looking forward to the pack, maybe it just takes time to print?

I received a mail saying that the documents etc would be with me in September. So they still have two weeks left.

In the ACO areas do you get any tv monitors giving the race positions? During the race it is so difficult to keep up with whats going on. Radio Le Mans is great but you can't really hear it. What I'm looking for is a way to have constant access to a computer screen and the live timing so you can see it as it goes.

The new Rouon road looks fantastic.

They have a few tv's in the ACO enclosure, in ten years I can't say I have ever really kept up with whats happeining until I get home and watch it on tv

Excellent. I gat a reply from ACO membership office:

The Membership Girls E-Mail said:

Thank you for your email. You will receive the Collector set at the beginning of December. (We are still waiting for the book). Did you receive your membership card and documents because it seems that there was a mistake in your address. I have made the necessary to correct it. If you didn't receive your card, let me know, I will send you another one.

At least it's on the way, and a nice present for christmas. Bloody address wrong! Which one of you lot got my card then?

So how many months were you waiting in the end?

I think I joined last Febuary. Maybe March. It doesn't come out till after the race anyway though.
