I get the impression that next year will be all about LMP2 and (hopefully) GTs, I think with Audi gone there will be less interest in the faster prototypes.
Club arnage is usually a good website if you're after gossip on the actual race.

I heard a rumour, from a source close to Audi Sport, that they are developing the R9 (to the new regulations) which may appear in 2006.

Audi are supposedly developing the R10 also, a diesel prototype.

Could they bring the R10 early (2006?) and spoil Peugeots attempt at 'first winning diesel' glory?

Peugeot previously announced entry for 2007.

Mighty strange comment... I don't know of a single multi-class race where the fastest class is not generally considered to be the most important. Also, 2006 will be a similar story to 2005 - will the French finally get the win? Will a Zytec or DBA come from relative obscurity?

The GTs are also usually considered quite important - second fastest class. I presume that will be another Corvette victory unless someone (good) tries with the Astons again.

LMP2 is really a bit of a joke in my opinion. Rediculously slow for racing prototypes and hugely unreliable. The biggest question will be whether they get more than three of them to the end.

GT2 will be another Porsche game probably unless a Ferrari (or - very unlikely - Panoz) breaks through.

OK, maybe not ALL about LMP2 etc but there is an awful lot of development work going on in the 'lower classes' And I personally find the underdog type struggles (think Morgan, TVR, diesels etc)just as interesting as guessing which Audi will win the LMP1 class.
Still a fantastic event, whoever you're rooting for!
