Hi, I'm running through my gear before I set off and I'm having trouble getting eurosport on my satellite box. It worked ok last year but this year I can only get sound and no picture on that channel. Every other channel works fine. I've tried deleting all channels and rescanning but its just the same. Has anyone else had trouble this year?

I think you'll find that Eurosport is no longer available, well not televised on Sky anymore.

I believe it is only the UK Eurosport that disappeared (merged into TNT)

We've been picking up eurosport from the 19.2 degree satellite with german audio for years. Its not from sky on 28.2. It seems they may have changed the video from mpeg2 to mpeg4 and maybe my old maplin receiver can't manage it. I'll upgrade and hope that fixes it!

According to Lyngsat (the encyclopaedia of Satellites) Eurosport 1 is MPEG-4, but that's the encrypted channel, the free one is still MPEG-2, so unless they've just changed it, your Maplin set should still work. Sadly, mine was stolen about 5 years ago - it wasn't you, was it biggrinhehe

Haha nope got mine direct from Maplin in the good old days when they existed! I've ordered a new receiver so hopefully that will work. I'll report back

Confirmed, new box works. Definitely worth running the kit before you set off

I'd forgotten that I bought a new box last year, but didn't even test it, as when I plugged everything together, on a quick compass aim, it worked first time

With a bit of luck, we should get most of the practice on Eurosport, the full race on German Nitro, some on Quest UK, and you fill in the gaps with the WEC app, if you can get enough mobile phone signal
