Having just seen an interesting thread on a Caen to LM route, can anyone recommend a nice route from St Malo > Le Mans, where possible staying off the motorways?

Cheers

Hi Foccer, is there a reason you have Alencon in there? I've plugged the other locations into Google Maps and it gives a pretty straight line, but adding Alencon adds another 62 km and 55 minutes to the route. Are there any specific POIs that make the diversion worth while? Cheers.

Good man Foccer, thanks. That is a very impressive castle in the centre of Fougeres.

Always enjoy the D794 coming off the N137 and heading to Vitre, in either direction. Nice flow to it.

I then track a bit further down (heading towards La Flèche) using a variety of D roads. Nothing particularly special, but nicer seeing more of France and passing through villages.

Just blasting along the motorways is boring. Though sometimes we do follow the motorway back until Vitre (and exit for the 794) just to get back a bit quicker and path of least resistance whilst knackered. The exit at Vitre is usually because I’m fed up sat on the motorway.

That Alpes Marcelles is a new one on me. I’d tried to get my dad to stay up around there on the Thursday this year. Would have been nice to check it out.
