Are the fuel prices over there vastly different this year, bearing in mind the french government actually did something regarding oil prices after the septics started a war in the gulf?

I don't know if typical but last month I had driven from Rotterdam to Dunkirk and whilst trying to get to the Lidl in the port town the traffic was at a standstill because of queues at the petrol station situated right on a roundabout.

Nearly had to give up on getting cheap wine biggrin

I'll second that fuel is fuggin expensive in France, Belgium and Holland frown

If you need 98 it can be in short supply in rural locations - but not on the motorways.

The motorway prices are around €2.20 today for SP98 and €2.15 for E10. Off the motorways it's €1.99 for both grades - but you run the risk of not finding the 98.

€2.20 is £1.90. €1.99 is £1.72.

Used to be that diesel was cheaper in Europe, not the case any more. For the Spa 6h trip, I filled up in Dover by the ferry port as it was still cheaper than France or Belgium.

Official French government website with just about all prices.

Also usually pretty much up to date - e.g. Diesel at Super-U in Arnage as I write this EUR2.089 = £1.80 (again as I write this according to xe.com) which is a few pennies better than I can find near me at the mo.

Always use supermarkets - much cheaper.
For those using the N154 route to avoid tolls, there is an E.Leclerc station at side of road at Nonancourt . Turn left onto N12 at end of dual carriageway and it’s about 200 yds further on the right. Takes cards only.

In recent years I've found fuel to be more expensive in mainland Europe vs the UK.
Not sure when this turrning point was.

Today… Shell 98 Ron was €2.600!

Been using Total Energies. They were capping their 98 at €1.999
