Le Mans accomodation for soft lads
Discussion
I've been landed with the task of organising a lad's trip to Le Mans (5 of us, all virgins, so to speak). A sticking point at the moment is accomodation. I realise that camping is the done thing but none of us have any camping kit and are soft enough to want proper beds etc.
Do you reckon there will be any chance to get B&B accomodation anywhere near the circuit?

I'm trying hard not to laugh really I am!!
I would imagine you've got bog all chance of finding B&B acommodation locally at the time and if you did miraculously find something it would cost you two arms and a couple of legs!!
The other downside of being off the circuit is that getting to and from the circuit on the Saturday and Sunday is an absolute nightmare plus you miss out on the atmoshphere of the campsites.
It's not too late to buy camping passes from the ACO (www.lemans.org) I understand that they've still got Beausejour camping passes left. It's a good site by all accounts.
Get yourselves down there and buy some camping gear from Carrefour or Decathlon. If you buy decent camping gear then it isn't a hardship.
I'm not sure that there is much of an alternative unless any of the tour operators have any hotel/motel availability left.

If you can compromise a bit on the camping thing (well, a fair bit actually
) the site we stay at is 'very comfortable'. It's in a village called Spay which is about 5 minutes from Arnage and 10 minutes or so from the main entrance (during the week anyway
) and is a proper municipal camp site. It's got decent clean showers and loos and is a very nice quiet site, if that's what you want (which we do). Apparently there is a taxi service to and from the circuit although we've never needed to use it.
We've been there for the last 2 years and are going back in '06. The staff don't speak a word of English, which is always a challenge, but it is very friendly site with a bakers, bar and small mini-market in the village. If you want any more info, PM me.

I have been twice before with my brother and have stayed in a Formula 1 hotel on the outskirts of Le Mans both times, first time we called in on our way to the circuit not expecting anything but they had just had a cancellation. The second time we booked the hotel in advance. I cannot remember the price but it wasn't extortionate and we only booked it about this time of year, even though you hear that everything is booked up years in advance.
Last time a friend also camped and it was easier for us to use his camping facilities than to keep going back to the hotel. This year I am camping as I believe, as already stated it is a much better atmosphere which you miss in a hotel and this is as much a part of the trip as the race itself.

Is there a website for F1 Motels? I want to find one (or similar) to stay at on Sunday night, partway between LM and Dieppe. Just being lazy and hoped PH would have the easy answer
