There is another book, 'death race 1955' I think it was called. That is also very interesting, what other information are you after though??

Try the VHS Video 'The History of Le Mans' - loads of copies on eBay usually so don't pay over the odds.

I grabbed the footage to MPeg a few years back so may have that somewhere along with Peter Dumbrecks flight in an all together more modern Merc. Is your email on your profile?

Don't know where you'd find them on the net but if you look out for DvDs on the Silver Arrows or Jaguar at Le Mans you will find footage in those.

Have a look here for extra info - http://members.aol.com/healeypics/lemans.html
Google Images have loads if you search 1955 le mans

But, I would say that getting to LM for the classics is way better than concentrating on this subject. I know the owner of Mike Hawthorns D Type that was obviously tarred with the majority of the blame for this accident and the car will be driven as always in truely 'sideways' fashion as always by Mr Johnny Herbert AFAIK!

Classic & Sports Car did a freebie Jaguar vid a few years ago which pops up on ebay quite often. That has a wonderful in-car lap of the circuit with Hawthorn in a D-type - shot before the race, when the roads were still open!

Talking of which, the DVD 'Sideways in a D Type' which has some footage and a lap with Wynn Percy around Goodwood in the '55 Le Mans winner is excellent, truely excellent.....

Hi bro, glad you enjoyed the book. I've seen the film shot of the D type driven around the course and its great. It was on one of the Sky channels (MotorsTV) from what i can recall.

I take it from your original post that you're being a good lad, have given up the nasty cigies and are now allowed to come to Le Mans with me. If we get bladdered again on the friday night, we'll have a repeat sit-down toast on the start / finish line. The doctor has just given me the all-clear after last years beer-induced dehydration as well.....
