Odd question...
Discussion
Good morning,
I'd like to get an opinion on this please. A friend who has never been before but is coming with us this year would like to bring along a set of, erm, record decks?
I haven't spoken to him at length about it but for some reason he thinks it's a good idea. I'm not convinced. In some respects I think it may be quite entertaining in the evenings (we're in HA) but it may also p1$$ a lot of people off, particularly as it's the 'back to 91' style of dance music.
Worth a go or a resolute leave at home?
Thanks in advance.

How is he going to power them? Do you take a generator? I don't think that there is power on HA is there? What about amps - you'll have to go some to outgun the Danes we camped next to a couple of years ago on Houx.
Assuming you're taking records not CD's how well does vinyl perform in 40degree heat? I have recollection of making nice vinyl plant pot holders from hot records!! He'll presumably have to lock them in the car for security - how hot might it get in there? Do you have enough space to get it down there?
The place will be dusty, dirty, hot and full of pikeys.
Personally, I'd tell him to naff off and buy a MP3 player if he wants music. It's a frigging motor race

All of the above.
I Don't think vinyl would survive last years heat and if it does, the dust would bugger everything up. Despite the fact that someone could get angry at the noise and do something to them while you're not there. As said before, I wouldn't bring anything valuable that I'd mind being broke or stolen.

Angry at the noise?......I think from 17.00 on the Saturday they'll be plenty of other types of noise to compete with a Pair of Technics !
If you need some tunes to go with the Pre-race BBQ's best to have somethng small & robust.
Be a shame to have a rare 'white label' vynil end up being only fit for a Frisbee!

or chundered on/in
Record Decks sound good, but it depends on which campsite you're in.. Esp. if you're next to us, although I can usually sleep through most things - give us an idea of where you are and you can have a load of Pistonheaders party with you!!
We'll bring our own beer of course and a couple of spare ones.. Piglet said:

The engines are enough music for me! I spent most of the time in the bar, pit lane or inside the wire working! There is nothing like the Aston V12 for stirring the blood!!!
