MRI - Anyone using & comments?
Discussion
if you do a search on this forum you will find lots of comments on MRI from the past couple of years.
IMHO I would avoid them like the plague, in our experience of using them for several years they are unpleasant to deal with (apart from when it comes to relieving you of your hard earned) and seem to treat their "customers" like cattle. It really grates that they seem determined to extract more cash from you at every opportunity. The classic being that you have to buy their travel insurance unless you can show evidence of having your own. HOWEVER they only give you 48 hours from booking to provide this evidence (fax or physical copy) only they managed to "loose" this fax from us more than once. It just leaves a sour taste when they take this approach.
To be honest it is far, far cheaper to organise it yourself, speedferries for the crossing, speedchills for hospitality + face value tickets, you're then looking at £60 each rather than £200 each with MRI. They must be laughing all the way to the bank. Alternatively just book the £50 crossing with speedferries get a Beausjour pass from the ACO and you can get the entrance ticket on the gate.
Also some other snippets I posted on another thread on this subject:
The thing that really grated with MRI was a couple of years ago when we had our breakfast with them and someone gulped down a (literally thimble sized) "glass" or orange juice and then refilled it before checking out, they had someone permanently monitoring the orange juice machine incase anyone topped their glass up! (that will be another €1.5..)
Also quite amusing that a colleague who used them filled in their survey and made several comments (designed to be positive criticism) about items such as the toilets and the food. They banned him from travelling with them the following year..
Just our experience of them, I'm sure others will disagree.

They have run out of beers in the hospitality tent both years that we've used them (2004/5), and the food was laughable last year - basically a bunch of baguettes!
That said, you can always book practically as late as you like...
I think that if I could guarantee being organised in time ot book the campsite, etc, I probably wouldn't use them.

You may pay slightly over the odds, but we have used them for the past 2 years.
Yes, we had to prove we had travel insurance (by giving a 'number' over the phone, so just make one up if you need!) and yes, they do cost a little more.
The up side is that we got Masion Blanc as late on as April - which made MRI a bargin considering how much tickets were changing hands for at that date.
Not much to say about the hospitaility - we used the seats, the lovely clean toilets / showers and took our own beers into the hospitality area so saving a whole wad of euros.
Use them as a ticket service with a toilet and seating area - not as 'hospitality'.
If you want simplicity use MRI.
John.
PS - having said that, we are trying to book separatly this year to save a few pounds - but then I am a student!!!!

ok - about to book for 6 of us in 3 cars with MRI, anybody else going with them this year? or anybody gone before and got any comments?
Myself and other friends have used MRI for 4 or 5 Le Mans trips, and will be using them this year and found them ok .( camp houx ,reserved camp spaces, showers etc)
Yes the hospitality tent food standard has gone well 'downhill', and their Bar service is 'pants' but that's not the main reason we use them anyhow. (We've our own BBQ & Beers)
Have to say though, we thought the Hospitality Loos, TV area & Motorsport Guests were very good.
We know it's not the cheapest option, it's just that they sell a convenient 'all-in-one' package.

We have used MRI for the last 5 years, sure they cost a bit more, but we get MB camping permits which are like gold dust to the general public, plus there are 12-14 of us who go each year and all it takes to organise is 1 phone call.
The hospitality food and drink isn't great, or particularly cheap, but we always have our own bbq and fridge, and this year are taking a refrigerated sprinter support vehicle for the beer. Nice.
There are cheaper ways to book, but you pays your money and takes your choice.
