This year is first time i've driven to the event, however being in 998 Mini i don't want to be stuck on the motorway all the way.
Does anyone know alternative routes, and any roads that are well worth driving between Calais and Le Mans?
I've got the whole of Wednesday to get there so it would be nice to take in some good driving roads, also good for a bit of action filming.
Route numbers etc would be very much appriciated!

There are probably better roads here and there but I always enjoy the good 'ol N138. Aparently the new motorway will be finished this year, but I dont think I will be using that! In addition, most people seem to use that, so you will have plenty to see if you are heading down Thursday or earlier!

Cant wait!!

If you get hold of the printed Michelin maps they have scenic routes highlighted.

As others have said the traditional N138 route from Rouen to LM is worth driving with a few good Mini type corners. The problem you'll have with the new motorway route is that Le Mans will now not be signposted other than via the autoroute, so you'll have to map read between villages and towns.

Buy your self an arm full of the yellow Michelin 1/175 000 maps and go for it.

If you feel like switching to the 11pm Tuesday ferry Portsmouth-Le Havre you can convoy with 2 Triumphs.

I wish i'd have asked earlier, i've been looking for someone to convoy with for a while, however the ferry is already booked and paid for, maybe i'll see you at the PH meet on the friday morning?

I think our "quiet scenic route" will be a "noisy PH route" this year

TarkaTom, PM me and I'll send you a copy of the route we took last year.

To send a PM, click on the person's name which will bring up their profile. Within that screen is an "email me" link...
