What is the best day to leave???
Discussion
Thursday morning is when our group always leave, get there for late afternoon after stopping for lunch and all the traffic.
But if you have a couple of willing members of the group who don't mind driving the support van down then Tuesday or Wednesday you'll get better camping positions, unless you have pre-booked positions but they can get the tents all set up for everyone.

Yeah, we're leaving Wednesday morning this year, only our third Le Mans but after things going wrong with people dropping out last year, we arrived at houx annexe late Friday afternoon and found it a real challenge even finding a space for the cars!!
But I suppose if everyone starts heading over there earlier and earlier each year the same problem will apply earlier in the week!! So leave Friday!!

Tuesday morning leave from Dover, get to LM late afternoon maybe stopping off in a empty restuarant on the way into town, getting the pick of the camping plots and an easy evening setting up and buying supplies with any crowds. Then you have all day Wednesday to check out any changes to the circuit (of which there'll be many in 2006) and watching other people arrive and an early bbq before the first qually session (although we're never finished by the time the action starts).
I think its definitely worth trying to make it for Wednesday night qualifying, if you're interested in the racing that is! Spectating is made all the easier thanks to the lack of crowds and all the grandstands are free on Wed and Thu. I drive all the way from Glasgow so I'm determined to be there for than a couple of days!
The ideal day to leave would be two weeks before to do pre-qual and then a leisurely week out and about around Le Mans!!
In the absence of that - we go out the Sunday before, stay the night en route and turn up at the campsite on Monday morning. Plenty of time to get set up, plenty of time to get to scruiteering - it's something you should try and do at least once.
Isn't it time to go yet?!!
