Le mans for beginners
Discussion
Hey guys.
A mate and I are planning to go down to le mans this year (we live just south of london) and have been taking a look around but we're getting a bit confused with everything and wondered if you could answer a few questions for us.
First, we're going for "student" tickets but I read somewhere (I think on this site) that you could only get them on the day. Is this true? Also, what counts as a student card?
Second, we're trying to camp down there. We originally thought we would either go for Chapelle (because its cheap and close to everything) or Houx (because it's nice). However, everything we read seems to say that you need to book up to a year in advance. Do you think we would still be able to get either of these/any camping at all? If so which do you think would be the best of these to go to (this is bearing in mind of course that we are students (read skint) so money is an object).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys

Well firstly yes, you do need to act quickly on two things, your camping permit and your ferry crossing.
Check out www.beermountain.com for an honest review of all the campsites at Le Mans and lots of other useful information. Camp sites such as Maison Blanche, Houx pos Houx annexe will no doubt already be well sold out, if not most sites by now. One site that seems to always be available pretty close up to the race is Beaujour, although this campsite is quite a walk from the circuit but many people on here seem to like it.
Still, get this sorted a.s.a.p, check out this forum or www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php, a good place for sale / swap of tickets. Then again there's always Ebay but beware of people taking the piss, price wise for permits!
Tickets for entering the circuit are available when you arrive in plentiful supply, so don't worry about those but unsure of any other details for students. Have a look at www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/live/ressources/pdf/billet_24h2006.pdf
Also search this forum for loads of useful imformation on the whole Le Mans experience!!
