Good places to stop?

Last year we stopped in Rouen which is a great town but
has god awful traffic problems and it slowed us down quite
a bit.

We're travelling down from Calais and ideally we'd like to
stop about half way for something to eat, drink, etc.
Somewhere on a main route down, nice pub, something like
that, any ideas?

Mother says Abbeville isn't bad. Not sure myself but thats the recommended place from my family.

been to abbeville, its quite a nice little town, there is a sort of 'prototype' Notre Dame in the town square. from what i remember they built 2/3 trial runs before they did the real thing. rouen looked nice when i drove through it last year, but i was belting about trying to keep up with a convoy of caterhams and porsches, so wasn't paying massive attention!
