I have been driving to and from Spain recently and have used the new toll road from Rouen to Le Mans, for those of you with small fuel tanks be warned its 80 miles from the start to the first fuel stop. There is a petrol station about half mile before, on the 3 lane road out of Rouen and before the new junction, which is a bit tight as it does a full 360 back on itself. anyone not sure I suggest you fill up as you go through the commercial centre of Rouen. I found the road a bit boring and no doubt the local police will have the speed guns out for those long straights. If you lot use the new road I can have some fun on the old road.

My car will only be doing about 15mpg so that should be, errrr, interesting for the 80miles!

We'll be keeping off the new road and sticking to the usual route. Much more fun on the old roads through the villages. Hopefully should be even better this year if the lorries and caravans use the new road!

Thats a good point, although the trucks aren't obliged to use the toll road. Good point nevertheless.

Yeah I suppose. The funny thing is, that the faster I seem to go, the more my MPG goes up!

That's actually very true! Although you'll find that if you drop it to 4th and have a play with some exotica (for the fun of it!) your mpg soon drops again!

Yes this is true, as you get into 'triple figures' the MPG spirals downwards again....well apparently ,I've been told that's what would happen..not that I've ever been speeding of course.......

I will be sticking to the good old N138. The drive there is one of the highlights of the weekend.

Think I might travel down that one as well. Can't be doing with all those stopping at toll booths.

Slightly off subject does the new road stop at Le Mans or does it go to Tours?

Thanks for the fuel warning I can get best part of 500 miles per tank at a steady 70 (mph) and Piglets Saab does somewhere arround 650 to the tank so dont have a problem...
