Best way to get from Gatwick to LeMans
Discussion
Hi All
A mate of mine and myself are going to LeMans this year!!!!!!
We are arriving in Gatwick, from South Africa on Saturday the 10th and need to be in LeMans by Monday (the 12th) morning.
what would be the best/cheapest way to get there. The South African Rand is not very strong against the Pound and Euro, so cheaper is better.
also approx how long would the journey take
thanks

Depends on how you want to travel, if you rent a car then you could either take the ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre or Cairns which would be the shortest drive, or Dover to Calais which is a longer drive but a shorter crossing. Or if you’re not driving then the Channel tunnel through to Paris and then a train down to Le Mans, why didn't you get a flight to Charles De Gaulle and then a train down to Le Mans? That would have been the quickest option, although the drive down from the UK is a blast!!
Check out what deals you can get on the train (Eurostar) from London to Le Mans (via Paris). I had to get the train to Rouen last year, and the cost to get to Rouen was the same as if I'd just gone to Paris.
The other alternative would be to find a low cost airline flight to Tours which I believe is the nearest proper airport, but then you'd have to get to LM itself.

It seems you can get a coach from Gatwick to Paris (via central London) using www.nationalexpress.com for £102, Le Mans is listed as a destination, but my quick search couldn't find a route on that date I tried...
You might be able to get a cheaper total if you tried to get straight from Gatwick to Dover and then crossed the channel as a foot passenger and then took French public transport at the other end ( www.eurolines.com or www.sncf.fr )

Fly to Paris and then get the train to Le Mans.....
