We have tickets for the pit grandstand this year for a change and wondered if it,s any good? Tried most of the other stands over the years but thought we would get a good view of the TV next to the Audi grandstand and at night when the stands are empty it should be good for viewing (hanging over the hand rail) the pits stops?

You'd better hope its not as hot and sunny as last year

You could literally see each row emptying after the start as the sun came over the top of the stand and people started frying, the wind was blowing on the back of the stand so no respite from that either !! I prefer the ACO stand opposite as you get to see the action in the pits although I reckon the view down must be great, the big screen is a bonus as well.

btw Tom, are you in Houx again this year. We met two years ago I think, would like to catch up and see what you've done with the beast since then...

Great place to watch the pomp and stuff before the start but not so great when the sun is frying your eyeballs out.

It's free (or always was) to get up there during the pracice and qualifying sessions so that's when I go up there.

I think a grandstand is planned being built in 2007 that looks down the Mulsanne! Nice!
I always wish you could see a bit further up Mulsanne from the corner but I guess they need the safety of a run off area at close to 200mph!

The great advantage of this grandstand is that you are way above the catch fencing. Take a long lens and you will get some great pics.

Great view of the Mulsanne would be fantastic....but there is one major concern!! The Tetra Rouge Bar is being bulldozed as part of the deal!

TR bar was still standing a week ago. Will let you know if the bulldozers move in!

I was in there the first time I wen and I think was the best place I ever saw the race from! Were in ACO this year which is meant to be good, however, looking down into the pits during the night will be tough to beat imo.

Oh yea, youre gonna get very hot. What row are you in? We saw the start of the race in the shade above the pits, but promptly left that seat!!!

Actually, I just realised that since the race begins at 5 this year, you will be toasted right from the start unless you are right at the back!!
