My passport runs out in Dec 06, have checked one of the travelling sites, says I need 3 months on it to get in/out of France, but others say 6 months which is cutting things fine, anyone had any experience with it?

Get it sent away now - I've just renewed mine and it took less than two weeks to come back. Oh, if you get it renewed now you won't need to get a "Voluntary" ID card for years or give them your biometric details!

Should be fine.
They never bother check that too seriously as we are all in the EU.

Last time a colleague and I went to Japan his run out when we were out there but they still let him in!!

I've had a look on the French consulate website as mine runs out end of September.

It states

Passports : If you are a British citizen, you only need a valid passport or ID for the whole length of your stay in France.

I also noticed this

a sentence of up to two years, plus a fine of 30,000 Euros and seizure of the vehicle and device, for having any radar detecting device installed, even if this is switched off

Fruitcake I'm pretty sure you are wrong as devices similar to road angel are freely available in France. It is only illegal if it has the ability to detect a radar beam, rather than having set coordinates.

Dont Panic, if your in an EU state as we are you only need 3 months left on your passport. Worry about important stuff like Beer Money, Car Keys, tickets and tent!

I had arrived back from a trip to LM, on my bike. Whilst I was faffing around selecting neutral etc the customs guy just said "English?". I nodded and he just waved me through.

I'm pretty sure if your a european citizen then you'll be ok. Its just if you go out of the EU that the 3 months thing kicks in. Had to do change mine early for a trip to Canada for that very reason.

I'm sorry I stand corrected.

I did get told by someone who recently went over there with one of these that one of the chaps working on the boat told him to remove it. Maybe just being over-cautious?
