Gary - the cameras don't pose any threat as they can't send the fines to the UK (got flashed 6 times in 4 countries last year and didn't hear a thing).

It's the speed traps that you need to worry about.

I heard that there's some new EU legislation in place in time for this year which allows fines (and the necessary points) to be sent between countries now - have also heard conflicting arguments as to whether or not this actually works in practise too.

Like you say tho, its the gendarmes you have to look out for as they're the ones that pull your pants down! "Oui miseur, i jouer du to le cash automatique so du can pay me that fecking great fine on la spot"

Still along way off from having a europe wide points/ban system

I'd bet Nerv's GT3 against it happening within the next 2/3 years

Not until 2008-2009. There was a thread about it.

As has been said its all safe re cameras etc. You can't win 'em all though, hence why they go out of their way to assfeck you once and for all on the spot when they finally get hold of you

Also, I've been led to believe that the camera database for France is somewhat wayward?
