Thought I'd better organise some just in case, got a price of £29. Anyone know anyone better (i.e. cheaper?)

I'm insured with Elephant and it's a bolt on to the existing cover I have with them.

RAC gave me cover for the five days for £40. Includes an option of a hire car to continue my journey if I want to (which I obviously will). Only a 3 year old car though (Cooper S) and they gave me some discount as I was put through by my insurance company but £40 for piece of mind was worth it i thought.

Rather than that it blow up and my terrible french has to be used.

If you are a member of a car club, don't use the RAC website, call them and tell them. It saved me £18 on my fully comp cover for Le Mans this year.

Costs me about £95 through the RAC per year for any of my cars whilst driving and / or passenger in any car and having used there service (twice) last year they were excellent and refunded me loads of out of pocket expenses regarding the recovery of the car i.e. trip to Le Mans via train and Ferry back a week later to collect the car after the clutch hydraulics went at Le Mans last year!

It you go through to RAC and add it to your membership you get the full cover. If you take out a separate RAC policy it only covers you for a ominated vehicle and the cost difference is about £10.

So, if you are planning on visiting Europe more than once in the next year I would consider an annual policy.

By the way, if you join the ACO (French equivalent of RAC) you get breakdown cover in France, your own bar/ club house at Le Mans and discounted entrance tickets for the race. All for €95
