A couple of cars in our group have concerns about putting stickers on their cars - will they come off without a trace?

Not an issue for some of us as we have knackered paintwork anyway but any experience to persuade a few more in our group would be great.

No problem at all, provided you use a quality vinyl from a supplier such as www.racegraphics.net.
Simply apply very gentle warmth (theres no need to set fire to your paintwork!)with a hairdryer and they will simple peel off.
If there is any residual glue this is easily removed with something like Lemon Cif or liquid type wax if your afraid of scrathing the paint.

so whats the best way of putting them on then? Warm the area first, slightly soapy water to soak the sickers and smoothe out the bumps and lumps?

Anything else required?

Ensure the area is clean before applying the stickers, if the surface is flat just spray on some water with washing up liquid in and smooth the sticker in to place, if the area is curved (funny shape) a hair dryer can help..........then

here's a bit I jotted down, 'Substrate' in this case is either glass or paint

www.racegraphics.net/page4.html

on removal as mentioned above, a little heat from a hair dryer will mean there will be less adhesive residue to clean off, i just use my normal polish to remove anything that is left on the paint

After going nuts on the car last year (though still less than what other people put on), and seeing all the pics of cars on here from last year, there's yet to be a single complaint from anyone about removing stickers and damaging paintwork. It's a legit worry, but completly unfounded. If you want to avoid the hairdryer trick, do as I did - park the car in the sun for a while and they come right off.

It should be noted that putting stickers on your car is ok as long as it is for a short period of time i.e. for Le Mans weekend, but don't be tempted to leave stickers on your pride and joy for extended periods of time. My dad won a Jaguar XK8 convertible from the JEC yearly charity raffle and it had stickers on it that had been on the car for the year touring all the JEC shows. They told him the stickers would come off with a hairdryer, did they?, did they heck. It took a lot of effort to get them off without damaging the paintwork and in places it was unavoidable to get them off without taking some laquer with them. All sorted now though.

Hi Wolff and Idc, I had some made up at a local vinyl/ sign shop. Took an old poster in to give them proper letter design to copy and hey presto! Fairly pleased with the result Sure any sign shop could do same.
