A reminder for those that haven't been camping at LeMans before.Usually after the race end, the campsites are hunting ground for the French Gypsies, i've personally seen them steal from tents (yes i did tell the owner). They dig through the bins and take anything of 'value' that is left unattended.Keep your valuables safe, infact at all times try to look valuables in a car rather than leave in your tent.

Just make sure your valuables are not unattended.

Or if it's possible, lock them in another Pher's car?

also, last year I got talking to a guy with a lotus 7 who had his passports and stuff nicked from the car as they went to the supermarket on the monday.

if you have an unsecure car, carry your important bits with you

by all means call me stupid (que the comments) can you not look into getting a small secure box fitted behind one of the seats in a car that has no boot or lockable storage area! Just an idea like!

I would suggest keeping your passport, cash and credit cards on your person at all times (including sleeping) if you don't have a secure car boot to keep things in.
Anything else of value I would leave at home unless it is essential to your trip.

They are really sneaky b'stards! A couple of years ago the guys we camp next to had their generator nicked, this happened when they were at their camp! Now you would think you would notice that? At least you would notice the fridges switching off. I swear if they had caught one of them they would still be in France doing some serious time

Get one of those lockable security boxes that you can chain to some sort of immovable object, or your car - im thinking meaty chassis bit out of the way underneath. Just dont forget its there when you drive off!

Also watch out if your car is a bit different. I've heard of "trophy hunters" knicking bits off cars like stick-on badges and fancy dust caps on your tyres. Be vigillant and even more important...kick the sh1t out of anyone you catch!

Martin.
