Quandry Guys. I'm umming and aahing about whether to go for classic british and take my
Austin Healey 3000 Mk111 (left hooker) or my teutonic titan 996 turbo with X50 upgrade. The thing is I get as much a kick from the one as the other despite the obvious differences.
What would you do?

Very difficult one, do you go for the uber saloon with guaranteed reliability, air con, comfort, speed and anonimousity or classic looks, roof down, slow, dodgy reliability, but you will get noticed and look "right"?

Perhaps you should fit a trailer to the Porsche, drive that to Le Mans then unload the Healey for the posing!

Keep them coming guys I need a good consensus. Vettehead was that you last year with a pace car Vette as I saw one on Sunday at Mulsanne parking with probs? Hope to see it again in anger if it was you.
Keep the votes coming!!

Healey! The trip to Le Mans should be an adventure and part of the experience IMHO

Tough call that one, I think that I would probably go with the Healey just to be that bit different and 'British'!

One question though, do you feel confident in the reliability of the ol' girl to get you there?

Healey - a 996 is more common than a Clio that weekend.

Great. Thanks for the votes. Looks like the Healey wins hands down. I'll make no professions about her projected relaibility as that would be tempting fate. Last year on the way down I had her up to an indicated 115 mph on the autoroute just to blow off the cobwebs. It's got a slightly hotter cam and felt very solid. On the N138 being a left hooker helps a lot, as does the fact that I know the road very well as I have a house down that way.
Please keep the votes going but it looks like the straight six is getting on that ferry!

Not if you drive really, really fast or really, really slow with an umbrella up!

Might have been me - I took over a 1978 Pace Car last year and certainly had a few issues with the starter not working. Got a new starter fitted this year and exhaust wraps (suggested by a camping neighbour in Beausejour) so should be fair dinkum. If there was another Pace Car tootling about I certainly didn't see it.

In answer to original question, take the old fella definitely!!

Got to be the Healey - All what's been said before.

The Great British Welcome this year at 'St Saturnin' on the N138 is celebrating the Healey entrants for Le Mans. Bound to get a hearty greeting if you turn up in one of Donald's finest.

Usually get a few 'names' at this event. We met Derek Bell year before last when they 'did' Porsche
Nick.
