Autosport have got the driving directions to Le Mans wrong. The muppets have gone and reprinted the route from previous years and not taken into account the new motorway from Rouen to Le Mans. They even go as far as trying to sound all knowledgable and saying that after many years of trying different routes, they have concluded that going via Paris is quickest.

Note to all - This is completely wrong. You now take the motorway to Rouen, then find the motorway out of Rouen taking you straight to Le Mans (I don't know if we still get to do the tunnel?). See www.viamichelin.com for more details.

That's the quickest way isn't it? I'm still going to take the N138 after all I have heard on here... I have never been on that road.

More appalling sloppiness from Autosport - not only is the route wrong they ignore everyone who doesn`t arrive at Calais. Loads of the detail is wrong in this years guide and when I realised that they had withdrawn support from Radio Le Mans I wish I`d never bought the crummy thing..

bad wasnt it: the only info they have is for people whoi have paid money to be there.

See the other thread: Le mans guide (not just) for dummies. Fantastic.

I think the motorway will be slightly quicker

Take the m-way to Rouen and then run in on the N138. You won't regret it.

I think the whole guide is pretty poor this year... the Autosport one that is.

Thanks to this thread I won't be buying autosport. Last years was crap too.
I've printed up and smartly bound the guide for dummies and it is excellent, even for someone who has been going since 1991!

Anyone thinking the n138 is a better bet than the motorway is clearly more hardcore than me. It must be 1:30 - 2 hours quicker on the motorway. I have enjoyed the n138 for many years, but I'm also frustrated when I look at a map and see how quickly I get to Rouen and then how long it takes me to do the last "half" of the journey.

Each to their own I think.

Motorway will be massively quicker, but we'll probably mix a bit of B-road action on the way.

N138 is good, lots to see, but it can be quite heavily trafficed so depends on the need for beer!

The N138 rules... yeah its slower, perhaps use the motorway on the way back?

If people havent experienced the N138, then its a must and a definate part of the le Mans Experience... Well for anyone that enjoys overtaking that is!

And even then, only when your spotter isn't my GF who poos herself when I position her so she can see what's coming and can't judge how much space I need to overtake and so is miles too overcautious.

Perhaps that's why I'll be on the motorway this year...

And if you have a spotter, best to use hand signals and very clear words......"GO" and "NO" for example, just don't work!

We developed "clear" and "wait" as being the best comands. My passenger still kept slipping back to "go" sometimes though...

They've done WHAT

I hope RLM manages to carry on without them, we'd all be lost over there with RLM!

Yep, EVO have stepped into the breach apparently. Al least they know their core market!

Probably a good year to drive the N138 as the traffic will be a lot lighter. I have driven it for the last 6 years so have no need / desire to drive it again this year. I will be taking the new motorway
