How do you get to do this?

So want to do this myself - is it a case of knowing someone-who knows someone etc?

Yeah aware of that, just wondered how people managed to get on the purpose built part of the track..

You can usually get on at where the Porsche curves start to peel away from the public road (on the Sunday about an hour after the race).

But how far you can make progress round the track past the pits I don't know.

Porsche curves was blocked off and same at Tete Rouge were it joins the Mulsanne. Guess the best bet is to book a track day on the Bugatti circuit?

40 Corvette owners got to lap the track at about 12:30 on Saturday as Luc Alphand had teamed up with a charity to offer disabled kids the opportunity to have passenger rides around the track.......some pics will soon be over on the Corvette forum if my dialup connection ever finishes loading the pics

We got to do the whole track on Monday including me spinning the Impreza at the dunlop chicane!!! Hehehe! That's one to tell the kids! Mate left donuts on the Porsche curves in his M3.
Not going to tell you how though for fear of it becoming too popular and therefore a ban becoming enforced!

I noticed they left it open all day and then closed the bit between Mulsanne roundabout and arnage corner in the evening. Probably due to the shanannigans going on down there last year !! ...... including a rather beer fuelled individual mooning all the passing cars.....even the gendarme one !!!!

The only legal way to do it is generally as part of a car club celebrating an anniversary of a past win or something like that, which is why unless you own a bentley, jag or aston you rarely see anything else on there.
we (the morgan sports car club) did it on 2002 (40th anniversary of a class win) but it cost over £400 for 4/5 laps early on the saturday morning b4 the 24 hours started.
I thought, hell you're only here once, best £400 I ever spent.
Well there was Amber in Atlanta but thats another story.

the other way is to go to the LM classic meeting next month and pay about £75 for about 3-4 laps, again generally thru one of the car clubs, but ACO do sell direct tickets for this event (inc circuits of the track) I believe, to ACO members (£60 approx membership per year)

I heard on the rumour mill that someone had badly stuffed a motor there just after lunch time and thats why they closed it off early. Meant a detour back to MB via the Blue Nord (?) burnout point which i didnt know was happeneing....still, while in Rome etc

Yes that was fun, we actually caught your spin on the in-car camera (the other impreza passenger).
