Le Mans drivers parade on Motors TV

My wife recorded the parade for us on Friday and I have never laughed so much .
There we were in the '78 Indy pace car , slowly following all the other Corvettes through the start podium , everyone else pulling away gently......
We arrive on top of the nicely carpeted podium and my mate decides to rev it a bit for the crowd , he then procedes to slot it into D while the revs are still at about 3000.
The Motors tv camera man did a perfect job of capturing us wheelspinning off the podium and tearing the bright red carpet !!!!!! The next shot was of the announcer patting down the carpet with his foot surrounded by 2 foot long skid marks !!!!
All followed by David Leslie saying " someone got a bit excited there"
I will just add , it was pure accident - but a great memory of Le Mans none the less .

Fantastic Busby! I reckon that story will be re-told over many a Le Mans beer in the future. I'd love to see it. I don't suppose your wife caught any of the footage of my Mosler did she by any chance?
I will check to see if the Mosler is on there tomorrow mate , just recording 4 hours of highlights on Motors TV at the moment - good old VHS technology !!
Were you right at the start of the parade with the other supercars ?? I dont know whether she recorded it from the start.
If you are on there , i will get the whole tape copied and send you a copy (on dvd ?)

Busby, appreciate the time mate. I was on at the start with the other supercars so maybe not there. DVD would be great if poss. if I am there.
Alright busby, loved the motor. came to say hello but you wernt in, really wanted to here it. we we're the lads just back and behind you on the houx, one of the lucky one's to keep there pool, you just gotta argue or be drunk ! You came said hello wed or thur night with a crate, bit of a blur. had fiesta turbo with burned out chip. hope to see next year, cheers for beer, my shout next time!

Good avo. I have a 4am hazy memory of my mate Si stumbling over to your tent first then dragging myself (Phil) and Martin over with a case of ales. Will be back next year for sure so will see you for an ale and let your old fella have a play with the Vette!

Good to see you on here Phil - just like to say thanks for taking me all the way to France in the Vette mate - what a great laugh !!! Especially getting stopped by the gendarmarie......

WILLO M900 - really sorry but watched the parade on video last night , and my wife only recorded from after the red GT40 . I presume you were before that as I scanned through and couldnt see you after - SORRY ....
How come they put half the Corvettes through before the drivers but the rest of us had to wait until about 8pm ???
