Running On Fumes A28

Got to Calais with 5 mins to spare for the 5 PM crossing on Monday. We were travelling with Team Vixen, but unfortunatey due to a few donuts on Sunday night they were running low on fuel. They were down to fumes about 70km from Rouen and we were on 1/4 of a tank. We decided to "TRUST IN TOM TOM" as i seemed to remember a post about there being no refueling points on the A28 except for Frence Credit Card ones. We went for a very scenic ride once we got off the A28 and just blindly followed TT for about 8km. Found a nice village with FUEL!
Anyway we lost about 2hrs driving time in all with the toll booth delays.

Hope any other guys that ran dry made it and i know there were a few.

Do you know I had completely forgotten about that post right up until the point we were about an hour into our homeward journey and suddenly realised we had not seen any petrol signs for a while and the car was saying it had 30miles of fuel left.....................oh sh!t!!

Finally found a 24hr pump open a little way off the motorway but as already mentioned it was only useful for French Cards. So a BIG thankyou to the wonderful Belgian couple who came to our rescue with their card and an exchange of cash - Belgians rule and the French suck!! Or at least the one did who refused to help us - this was about 6am so we did not have a lot of options.

Finally made it to the Tunnel with about 20mins to spare.....phew!!

And a big hello to anyone who waved as they went past a Dark Blue Golf with PH stickers on the way down and back, was great to see and hear you all............what a fantastic week!!

we pulled off the A28 and convinced a local to fill our car up for us using his card.

That area is unbelievable, especially on Sunday as its unmanned stations everywhere so you cant even use cash
