Does anyone know the spectator numbers over the last 10 or so years? It seems to me that the last two years have been much busier than previous and I seem to remember that there were about 150,000 people there in the late 80's - is this just my memory playing tricks, or are more people going now?

I remember Radio LM saying that there was a new record for this year of over 230,000 odd spectators.

More and more people certainly are going - can see how it snowballs;

1 person goes makes new friends - he takes his mates next year etc...

it was as the other person said a record attendance of 235,000 this year although it didnt seem any busy than least few times in all honesty - its such a huge site!

I think they said that there were 235,000 this year up from 230,000
last year and this is supposed to be a new record. The mental balance
of race-goers was not elaborated upon.
