Hello striker 20v,
We were staying at the same campsite as you(200SX, Hyundai Coupe & Clio 172) and the M6b looked great.
I have been trawling through pics that myself and trackside had taken but unfortunately can't find any of it. No help in your quest but thought I would acknowledge the nice motor.

Yep I could shed some light in the matter.
just to be sure the car is NOT mine, just did a little work on the carbs and fiddly bits together with the owner Bas, Another thing is the car is actually for sale as Bas the man in hollandd when it comes to second hand kitcars and other special stuff.
OK back to topic,
Bruce Mclaren Build a few lemans racers and did compete in them, after driving an M6 can-am at le-mans he dicided to build the fastest road going car of the time, indeed Mclaren tried to achieve that goal many years before the F1 came out.
anyway He build a road going M6-Coupe M6b or M6 GT for himself as a prototype based on the moncouque style build M6a, however the road versions had a space frame, unfortunatly he never was able to finnish it to the disired standard because he died in a car crash in his own M8b testing it on the goodwood track in 1970 (I believe in june) The road car was finnished and a second was build and sold, I have no clue whatsoever where number 2 is. but gear6 has information on the auctioning of number 1 (aka bruce his own prototype a red one)
In the years to come kitcar manufacturer Tornado (cobra and seven very high standards and super expensive) achieved the chassis design drawings and they produced only 6 M6b's of which this is one,
the goal of having the fastest car in the world would not be accomplished because when bruce died the idea's of How-To died with him, 30 years later Noble and others did the trick by producing the F1.
so that's it, there are really only 8 of these chassis build ever, 2 ginuine mclarens and 6 tornado copy's. which are bodywise also a copy exept for the louvered nose, which Bas's M6 doesn't have and #1 does.... ??? don't know why though.
The M6 was the absolute first car which used self inflicted ground effect for downforce.
the one Bas owns has a Rover SD1 v8 in with offenhauser and holley carb, it does only 200something HP (shit quick though), plans have crossed minds of providing a G50 and twin turbo lexus 1uzfe engine which would do the chassis justice (800hp)! (swaped engine would also a le-mans copy btw, the toyota's used them in 1986 running 650bhp)
that's it, if you google around for the mclaren M6 A1 you'll find quite a lot of info, thats the cars that won laguna seca many times and is chassis wise a match to the tornado one.
regards Thomas
ps: If somebody has piccie? please.
Oh by the way if interested it's for sale at this dutch company www.speedon.nl at which I DONT work. (satisfied custumour though)
