I believe some people just use normal walkman earphones with ear defenders over the top, rather than an all-in-one solution.

You'll want to be looking for Shure headphones. Integrated earplugs and headphone One of our party had a pair and I can confirm they're very good! You can actually hear the radio over the engines

Hi, thanks for the reply, it's very much appreciated, but do you know where I can hold of a couple of radio hats. Been trying for ages and have no joy.

Though the separate ear phones and ear defenders give you the chance to cool down your lobes when things go quiet(ish) for the odd minute or two. In those temperatures your earlobes very quickly tend to feel like nicely barbecued lamb chops inside the muffs.

Or a bit cheaper here. I've just ordered a pair for next year.

Yup, can also recommend Shure's. Great as ear-plugs, some of the best sounding earphones you will get and even comfortable to wear all day/night (once you have worked out which of the 6 pairs of covers fit your ears).
