What a fantastic event.

The cars, the sound, the polite non-pissed-up people, the enthusiasm. This is our first Classic and will certainly be coming again. IMHO it puts the 24h into the shade.

Some pictures from Friday:

Having read the Goodwood FoS thread it seems we were fortunate with the crowds here. On Friday there were no crowds whatsoever, so it was possible to wander around the cars, chat with the owners/drivers, etc. All very informal and relaxed. Saturday was MUCH busier though, but not until the afternoon. If you want to go, get yourself a paddock pass as not everyone buys one, and therefore the crowds around the cars are minimal.

BTW, look at the rear left of this Ferrari! Oops...

There was also an E-type that got completely mashed and left of a low-loader.

When I was wandering around Goodwood today I did wonder whether the clash of dates would have an adverse effect on both events but doesnt seem to have.

Have to go the the Classic soon.

Had a Great weekend at the Classic.

Good Points:

Great weather,
excellent display of 'club cars'
plenty of entries
lots of track action
Excellent atmosphere
The demo run by the Pug 905 GpC car.
Seeing a Veyron in the flesh (doesn't sound too good though).
Having Paul Truswell doing English commentary over the main tannoy.

Bad points:

Surely the whole point of having the Classic within 3wks of the main race is so you can re-use the infrastructure. But no, all the temporary grandstands had come down, there were very few food stalls and the whole "behind the grandstands" area was very empty.

The marshals manning the paddock were (incorrectly) turning away ACO members, so we had to get actual paddock passes from the information desks.

The toilets in the ACO stand being locked shut at 20h00 (while the stand remains open until 00h00). Although someone had either broken in or had them unlocked by the end of the evening...

No Tartiflette stand

Just got back - what an event!

The racing was great, but two laps of the full circuit in the Spyder made the weekend for me.

I think I'll kick the 24 into touch from now on and only do the Classic...10/10

Just got back from LMC and agree with most previous comments certainly about lack of food stalls etc.
Best bit by far was our parade laps which I organised independently. We luckliy got in with good bunch and did two very enjoyable fast laps. Most impressed by Maserati 4200gt roadster which went by everything
Good weekend just hope does not get too popular as a few lager louts appeared to have heard about it and gave bad impression of Brits at Arnage saturday evening

Hopefully the kind of people who appreciate cars will tell these yobs to clear off rather than applaud their antics. If they are made to feel unwelcome and not given the recognition they seek they won't return. Rich...

Hi all, that was a fun weekend! first time i've gone to Le Mans Classic and i saw it very differentl from 24h Le Mans. So many Porsches parked inside the circuit (+950 so crazy!) so many lotuses, de tomasos, lambo, caterham, alpine and a bunch of rare cars i don't know what they can be!
Sun was with us, that was really fun!
thanks all for leaving such cars alive...
