Bear with me, some idle musings...
The Japanese Lambo club entered and raced their own car this year. Okay, I know they got invited/qualified by right from their exploits in Japan, but let's make some assumptions here.
Assuming we can get a reliable 400+ BHP from a 4.5 Cerbera (not too tricky) and we have campaigned it and qualified for Le Mans.
How competitive would it be in GT2? Not down much on power (if at all) faster as standard than most Fezzas and Porsches that are raced. Surely we have the technology (if not the time!!) to employ a conglomeration of 'tecchies' like Jules @ Trackcar Solutions, Austec, etc, etc. Also let's assume there are enough wealthy privateers in the TVR community to help finance this. I really think a Cerbera 4.5 would stand a better than average chance of finishing and maybe finishing quite respectably in GT2. Of course I have no idea what restrictions if any, would be placed on the AJP8...............

Woh Woh Woh !!!
You asked if a TVR would last 24 hours, not if they'd have an outright win.
I've simply explained that the answer is yes, a TVR would be able to last 24 hours. As a TVR did in '04 and '05.
No need to get cocky. If you ask a question and its answered properly, just accept it eh?

Me too.

of course its all to easy to take people the wrong way when you don't know others to properly talk to. are TVR going to got back to Le mans? as I said my first time and i want to go back, in the next 2 years. and keep going as it was great fun and amazing atmosphere

Meanwhile, is it a workable proposition?
No. The Rollcentre Cerbera was getting a bit long in the tooth in '01, which is why the more focused T400R was introduced. Compared to modern cars like the F430 Ferrari and new 997 Porsche it would be outclassed, as the T400R is now.
The Lambo was developed in Germany, but JLOC put up the money and assembled (employed?) the team. You'd need a fully developed car to start with, which is where the factory comes in...
More or less echoing the above points but no, the Cerb. wouldn't be a successful privater car - the chassis isn't good enough (to be competitive with the latest Proker/Fiat).
You could probably re-engineer the chassis, but that's expensive. The only sensible (though being sensible is not necessaraly the point of this topic - that could just be being there, not there to win)... anyway, where was I... oh, yes. The only sensible option for a private team is to buy a fully developed car, where someone has already spent the money getting it 90% of the way there and you just have the 10% to worry about... something like a Porsche, a red Fiat, or an Ford DB9.
If you wanted to race a TVR at Le Mans your only half sensible/competitive option would be to buy one of the R400s, but one is still racing and LNT seem happy to sit on the others (the cynical man would suggest keeping a competitor out of GT2).

Yep - only competitive Le Mans type race car is the T400R at the moment, although it did have a class win the Spa 1000kms last year in bloody awful conditions

I don't know - I'd like to think so and if they do it will hopefully be in a more competetive car. You're right about the atmosphere there, its awesome.

who owns TVR wants to get back in racing more. hopfully Le mansConfirm that: TVR will be involved in racesport in the future.
Although it will be kicked off by "privateers", it is a definitive requirement of the set up that there is support from TVR, one of the failings which led to Panoz being taken on by LNT - and look what happened there this year!!
For my part, I would far rather see a development of the Sagaris.
Enough of them on the go now to change the restrictions??

Indeed Richard.
Aside from the factory, there are drawing board plans being put in place for the Sagaris to go playing with the GT2 and possibly GT1 boys. I emphasise again, drawing board plans only at this stage.
Best place for Sagaris would be GT3, for which it would be absolutely ideally suited and I'm surprised it wasn't done for this season.
GT2 is very competitive and the F430 and 997 RS have moved the game on a long way.
GT1 would obviously require a different engine to start with, which would mean a different car, I suspect. TVR doesn't currently have a car capable of being transformed into a GT1 contender.
