Le Mans Virgin, advice needed.
Discussion
Hello everyone.
I am going to be going to Le Mans next year, but have not been before, and would like some advice on where to camp, get tickets, when to travel and any other bits of help i might need to think about.
I have heard the sites fill up months in advance, and so when is a good time to book a camp site, and is it the same sort of problem with the chunnel crossing too?
I am no stranger to motorsport weekends, and the need to take 4 seasons worth of clothing and equipment with you, but i am really unsure of what to expect with the whole Le Mans thing.
Thanks for any help and advice you may be able to offer.

Search around the form for all the info you need, there's been a couple of good 'virgin' threads in the past.
The official site is www.lemans.org which is the cheapest source for tickets (double check the prices the other agencies charge, so you are aware of what you paying).
You'll need a general entrance ticket each and a camping or parking pass per vehicle. Don't worry which site you're in, they're all good. The www.BeerMountain.com site has plenty of site info on it.
Book tickets ASAP with whoever you chose as a supplier.
Definitely arrive by Friday morning, if not Wednesday or Thursday, I've always found the Sunday evening an anti-climax but others say its the best night.

I went for the first time this year. Fantastic experience, but everyone I've spoken to says it's getting bigger every year, so do book early. I've already reserved my camping passes and entry tickets for 2007 (Maison Blanche campsite). If I don't use them I'm sure I can flog 'em!
Do check out the links posted above (one has a great "Le Mans 101" article but I can't remember off the top of my head who!), and have a good nose through all the PH threads. There's a LOT of helpful stuff here.
You'll love it :-)

Hello, it all depends on what you are looking for from the trip. Some camps are very wild, some in the middle some good to take the family to.
Best advice go there with a open mind do not forget your money for the tolls either.Plus your heatlh card,in case the worse happens it free just go on there web site be with you in five days. Book your tickets now many camp sites sold out already.

I haven't checked the ACO site recently but they don't usually put the new (2007) details up until around Christmas. If you follow the link to ticketing and find the 2006 booking form just print it off and tippex the 2006, replace it with 2007, select what you want and fax it through to the ACO.
You won't hear anything from them until around Christmas and then they write to you and tell you what you've been allocated, what the cost of the tickets is and ask you to pay if you want the tickets.
You're almost certainly too late to get Maison Blanche, Houx or Houx Annexe from the ACO direct, you're probably too late to get Karting Nord but that might be worth a punt otherwise I'd put an order in for Bleu/Bleu Nord or Beausejour - you should easily get these from the ACO now.
If you want to go for the more popular sites you'll need to book through one of the ticket agencies and pay a premium to them. As well as buying overpriced camping tickets they'll normally make you buy two overpriced general admittance tickets for each camping pass you buy as well. Normal GA tickets can be bought on any gate at LM when you get there but beware that for the "inside" campsites you'll need a GA ticket to get through the gate (MB(Houx?) so if you're planning to turn up during the evening make sure you've got GA tickets in advance - you can order them from the ACO with your camping pass.
Read the forums but get your order in now if you're going through the ACO. You can worry about ferries later in the year. The date for the weekend is not usually confirmed until November/December so it's too early to book a ferry now anyway.
