Anyone camped here before??

I'm after a campsite with guaranteed electric hookups...I'm taking fridges/tv etc I understand le houx has electric but not every pitch....can anyone cast some light please? How easy is it to get connected etc

Or am I better off elsewhere ?? I hear AIRTRACK offer descent sites?

I've always stayed at the annexe or la chappelle but need a bit more creature comforts for 07.

Hope ya can help

Have a look at the Club Arnage guide, it has details of most of the campsites, with some pictures etc www.lemanszone.de/caguide2007.html

Also, Beermountain has some useful info, go to the Forum section and look down until you see the Campsite thread www.beermountain.com/index.html

I've been the last 2 years but went to Beausajour both times, so can't really advise on the other sites.

Cheers,

problem is both write ups say Houx has electrical hookups for all pitches BUT MRI say only a select few plots have electric and they cannot guarantee us getting it....wanted to hear from someone who has been to Houx to find out the deal if there's anyone who can help?

Been to Houx with MRI two years running , but as you say not all the plots are near to the power points.

We were near a point this year but not last year.

Maybe you could ask the someone in the TVR Car Club who always have a large group camping there.

Electrical hookup is on 'darleks' which are shared between about 8 or so pitches. Take a good chunk of lead and you'l be fine. Make sure you get a euro connector from your local camping store.

I agree with this, take at least 50m of lead, a euro adapter and preferable get a french adapter that turns one plug into two - the french just seem to use normal domestic ones on the campsite which scares me slightly! The darleks fill up quite quickly so having a double adapter will give you more chance of getting onto the supply. Take plenty of duct tape and tape everything in place! I'm not sure about the facilities offered by the private operators but AFAIK Houx is the only site with power throughout the site.

been on houx for the last four years, i'd suggest as well as length of cable get something that has a hard wired french adapter. Some cnut nicked ours this year and the beer fridge lost power.

Take a good multi-block with you and a French-to-English adapter and have this at your campsite end of the chain.

Now go to Careforre where they stock an abundence of dirt cheap (aka leave it behind) extension leads. Buy as many of these are required and plug these in to the post.

Be nice though and if no-one has a French block off of your nearest post, unplug someone AND PLUG THEIR LEAD IN TO YOUR MULTI-BLOCK. (Not that we have had people unplug us to put a multi-block in, then left our plug on the floor by the post and their multi-block 15m away with a spare cocket in it or anything...)
