Hi,

Got an email from Race Tours a couple of days ago about delays to the camping allocation. Is this totally across the board? Does anyone know what the situation is with getting into Houx or Houx Annex?

The ACO are introducing "zoning" into some campsites this year. As far as I know it only affects MB and Bleu but you may now have lit upon another one. Those with reservations are being asked to decide which zone they want, starting with "regulars" (those who have been booking for over 15 years - which presumabley includes agencies); followed by the rest, in order of the time they reserved their tickets. This is causing delays across the board so it is legit'. My understanding is that this is a prelude to the marking out of pitches on the hitherto unmarked sites to avoid those arriving late finding no space available.

Is this news available to read somewhere? Or just hear say my friend?

I picked up the problem on another site and e-mailed the ACO about it. That was their response. Horse's mouth!!

Tis true apparently. People that have booked direct with the ACO have received letters regarding the "zoning" of Maison Blanche and Camping Bleu etc.

I'm bloody annoyed! More grief now making sure everyone's in the same "zone". Will have to phone Just Tickets in the morning

Some good points on that Club Arnage forum thread with better ways to deal with making room for late arrivals though.

The ACO say that there will be no problem on MB because they will only issue the correct number of camping passes, they also say that you can ONLY camp in the zone specified on you camping pass!

So if/when you arrive on Friday your "space" will be there waiting for you....That’s assuming you managed to get a pass, or passes and they are all in the same "zone"

I'm not sure what this achieves or what is designed to do apart from making tickets more expensive to acquire, if you not on the "magic" list and most of these people have their letter from the ACO asking for their choice of zone.

Yes but what's to stop someone arriving on Tuesday in the correct 'zone' and then roping off a huge area? I'll still turn up on Thursday lunchtime and find a couple of spare inches left as per usual! Unless the marshalls get involved....yeah right rolleyes

Whatever happened to Maison Blanche?? I think it was 2003 and there was so much space and then 2004 you couldn't swing a cat???

Just spoken to Just tickets and they're still waiting to hear back from the A.C.O but seems that hopefully all tickets booked through them will be in the same zone. Fingers crossed.

I agree Buttmonkey and I think Happy Snapper forgot his "roll eyes" smiley!

The ACO say that they have only allocated as many tickets as there are 35 sq metre blocks for, but on the basis that they also say that these spaces won't be marked out on the ground I don't see how it can work.

Presumably they are intending to enforce the 35 sq metre blocks this time, which of course they could always have done before and solved the problem.....

Won't it be like Houx, with marked areas? We've always tried to stay there and its always worked very well.

Apparently it will eventually but the ACO have said that it will not be marked off for the next couple of years......

So are they going to fence off the Zones A - E?? That'll make it interesting.... Maison Blanche is a cross between Woodstock and the M25 on a bad Friday night! More fencing and no enforcement will lead to fisticuffs... it was bad enough this year - we saw plenty of aggrieved ticketholders square up to people in huge roped off pitches...why don't they allocate the pitches from this year??

We've been discussing this all day and our solution is to go earlier in the week, so it looks like a Tuesday night / Wednesday morning operation for the 'ButtMonkeys '007 Tour'

At least it'll give us something totalk about until next June

Unless things are marked on the ground I can't see how the ACO are going to make sure people are camped correctly without standing over each group one by one and they could have done that anyway without having zones (can you tell I'm not a fan of the zoning idea laugh)

I guess the pressure will be relieved by the fact that it appears that they are issuing fewer passes - of course we don't actually know that but I think that has to be the assumption from the plan that they've issued.

As for late arrivals....I'm not sure it makes much of a difference, presumably you'll be guaranteed a 35 sq m plot more easily that you might have found one last year BUT I can't see that this will give you any guarantee of a number of pitches together unless they are planning to allocate pitches to everyone on arrival earlier in the week (does that make sense?)

We've decided to have a word with the pikey's next year, you know, butter em up with a used bbq, and a few stale baguette's etc and get them to pop down in future years and rope off an area for us nice and early.

Wonder if they are going the same route as Houx Annex and having allocated pitches, it's a good idea until you get there and 50% of your pitches have feckin big pine tree in the middle

may mean you don't have to go down too early to get a half decent size pitch to get your car, tent and chair on. You may have to leave the pool and sound system at home and bring a bucket and iPod.
