Firstly,

Hi all i am new to the forum side of Pistonheads but some of you may know me from e36coupe.com.

Il cut the the chase, LM 06 was amazing and this year will be the first year i will be driving and i am very much looking forward to taking me M3 vert. However, a group of us are looking to hire a motorhome as the shower, toilet and FRIDGE will be invaluable and will bring a little more luxury to the whole affair and less spiders in our beds lol.

I am struggling to find any rental places local to Le Man (within 70 miles) as we want to blast down and then just use the van to live in whilst down there. Basically we can;t find anyone who would want to drive a fun bus when they could be driving an ///M instead in the convoy lol.

Can anyone help us, the nearest pick up point we can find are Brest or Paris

If anyone could help that would be great. I know E36Guy is running the trip from our side and we are looking for 100 cars, i think we currently have 30 which is great as its only January, the more the merrier though so if you looking for something organised then give him/us a shout.

Will be great to meet some of you down there.

kind regards

Mike

A motorhome? Where's your sense of humour?

Last year I managed to fit a proper 240v fridge in the back seat of the Aston, enough for 10 of us to enjoy cold beers providing the "drink one, replace one" rule was adhered to. And a tent is so small these days.

Buy disposable microwaves when you get close. Ditto beer and food. Keep both in the fridge. Ice in the ice box.

Two buckets (one inside the other0 are very useful for a number of reasons

The rest is clothing (buy a Le man t-shirt there for one race day) and hey presto! That's almost all you need to take. If Caterhams and the like manage, surely a lovely M3 can???

given its only a 2/3 day event if you hadnt bothered with the 'disposable' microwaves and fridge you could probably have eat proper food and cold draft lager any at of the decent restaurants in town

LOL - I think you might be going to a different event to the rest of us!

7 day event for us and why would you want to go in and out of town over the race weekend itself!

On a serious point for the opening poster, if taking a motorhome make sure you keep up with the changes that the ACO seem to be making to the camping set ups in case that has any effect on your ability to put a motorhome on some of the sites.

probably cause of the cold beer, fantastic cars in arnage and fantastic viewing at arnage corner......

horses for courses, i cannot understand those that spend 95% of the weekend in a dusty cramped campsite not watching the racing - but guess everybody has a different plan for the weekend etc

As happy snapper said there is a moterhome/caravan place on the road out of Arnage. I was a pussy last year and ended up staying in a house in arnage. then jumped on bikes for the short ride to the circuit. Arnage has such great atmos in the evening.

Who said we don't watch the race? Most of us just don't want to fight our way into town to eat so take our own provisions.

wasnt suggesting this of you, but as you will probably have noted if you have been going for a few years, there is a growing number of non race interested atendees who primarily go to sit and drink in the campsite

Yup you're right there, one of the reasons why we like the classic so much these days.

Cheers for the replies guys. tbh I didnt go into the circuit last year as I was on a budget however we will be going in this year. TBH we did a lot of sitting in the campsite drinking and we watched the race from the woods which was brilliant. I think it depends what people want from the weekend. For us and i am going to get flamed for this i know, the race is a bonus, the convoy down and the fact that we all get to holiday together, relax and have a laugh is almost enough for us, we have plans for a 100 cars this year in our convoy and we have 50 already.

Thanks for the links for the motorhomes, yes its not in the spirit of sleeping in a tent/oven but we feel we can be more comfortable and yet still enjoy the benifits of being with the rest of the group.

What on earth is a disposible microwave, are you simply refering to a cheap one that you would throw away as opposed to bringing home?
