Morning all,

Looking to go to Le Mans for the first time this year. Having spoken to a couple of ticket agents, it would appear that Beausejour is the main area left, with an outside possiblity of a few in Maison Blanche.

Initially I was put off Beausejour because of the distance up to the 'village', but I am told that there are shuttle buses to get you part way there, and that its a far more relaxed camping area (no wild parties all night). Don,t get me wrong, I don,t mind a drink or three but would not like to be knee deep in beer cans all weekend.

So whats the general opinion on Beausejour?

ps : My other option is to book through the TVR Car Club (Feb Sprint). I understand they have allocation in Houx, Houx Annexe, Maison Blanche and Bleu. Any thoughts?

This will be my 3rd year at BSJ. Campsite has non-allocated spaces so you don't seem quite so crammed in as in some of the other sites. It seems to be getting more popular though and by Friday afternoon in 2006, it was getting pretty crammed. It has a good ratio of showers & loo blocks which are kept reasonably clean by the locals (as long as you keep chucking some spare euros into their pot).

Camp site is less noisy than some of the other sites and it is possible to get some sleep if you want to. If you have Speedchills membership, you can have a cold beer and watch the race on their big screen.

As the site is so large, there is a train running around the camp site regularly to take you to the main entrance where you can catch the shuttle bus. In the mid-day sun this shuttle is very packed, uncomfortable and can get a bit smelly, but you are only on it a few mins. When it drops you off, you still have a bit of a trek to get into the circuit, but nothing major.
We missed the last shuttle back to the campsite last year on Sat night and walked. This took us 25 mins from the bus stop to BSJ. Quite a nice walk that time of night, but wouldn't have fancied doing it in the middle of the day as it was just too hot.

The walk to the Porsche curves is quite short and if you are brave enough, you can do the night time SAS style jaunt through the woods to Mulsanne.

Thanks very much for the info Debbie. I have just emailed Speedchills regarding their Members Club, looks good to me. Hopefully they still have room. Looks like Beausejour is getting my vote then.

I'm not a TVR club member , but my group have used Houx for the past few years. It can be a dusty site, but the allocated spaces, powerpoints and reasonable showers make it a good choice.

I would go back to BSJ in a heartbeat, great fun there and as mentioned if going Speedchills is the only way forward.... It has enough going on and is close enough to enjoy all the action, but far enough away to be quiet, unless you take into account the tts who set the campsite alight last year and me and a mate had a hell of a time putting it out, didn't help we were no were near sober at the time hehe

BSJ is an excellent campsite and so close to Arnage village which has a great vibe and is a rolling roadshow all weekend.

I saw that fire last year. was it the one where the fire engine eventually turned up to?

TO be fair though, in terms of a fire risk, it doesn't help that all the long grass is cut down by the landowner and not gathered up. It's left lying and out to dry so it's not surprising that fires start so easily.

I have a meeting with the ACO next Friday at Le Mans to finalise details of the private area of BSJ that I am taking. Have made a note to bring this up as it's bothered me for the last three years.

@ Ian V. I have 90, 50sqm camping spaces in Beausejour of which 49 are left for a private area if you are interested drop me an email. No matter when you choose to arrive you will have a nice big space reserved for you and there seems to be a damn good crowd coming together. Planning a good time and a friday night hog-roast as well.

Yep, think that was the one on the last night if my hazy memory reminds me right... Think it was all but put out by the time the fire engine came. Ride home was fun I didn't think leather could absorb the smell of smoke so easily!!

BSJ was our first campsite a few years back and is just as good as the rest. Without the kebab and beer stands (ran by a bloke caled Cedric who was ALWAYS working) we'd have been stuck for cold ales and fodder.

We got there on Thursday and got a spot under some trees which is a definite bonus but having experienced Speedchills at Donny last year I'd plumb for that option.

Another Vette at Le Mans eh? Keep an eye on the CCCUK website and the Vette threads on here as the last few years a 'Camp Corvette' trackside by Karting Nord has been available.

Hi Wayne, I,m doing fine thanks. I wasn't sure if you still had your vette, as I thought it was in the classified on here a few months back.

It will be my first time at Le Mans this year too, it has to be done !! Drop me a mail nearer the time and we,ll meet up for a beer down there. Have you booked yet? I am definately going to book with Speed Chills (no cooking for me !!).

If you read a few of these threads for Le Mans everything you need to know is here. But just as a highlight - Friday 10am get yourself and the Vette to inside of Arnage corner for the morning. All of the Vettes head to the same place every year and it's also a fine place to view the exotic stuff cruising by.

Also, last year I got included in the Friday Drivers Parade and managed a lap of the track on the Saturday about 1pm before the race started. Quite superb!

Karting Nord is a pretty good camp site too, and very close to the village/track.

Hi, I've been for 3 years, twice at Houx Annex Vert and once at Karting Nord, I would avoid Karting Nord, bad ground and long walk. As someone else said, HA can be very dusty and also you need to arrive very early Friday or Thursday to get a decent pitch but generally OK. Last year we were next to Team Langoustine(www.teamlangoustine.com), who advertise in the back of the TVR Sprint magazine, they seem to have places pre-booked on decent pitches and oganise BBQ's and other stuff, looked like a good set-up, maybe worth looking at.
