What teams are going to be running them?

I've heard a rumour about one team but have not heard anything from a friend of a friend on the inside.

Check out www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/live/ressources/pdf/selectionnes_24h2007.pdf

This is the invitational entry list (ie you have to have won, come second or third in certain quallifying races to receive an invite).

I believe teams had to confirm their intentions by 8th Jan '07, the Porsche RS Spyder team with the invite is the Penske Motorsports team from last years ALMS series. The ACO have also extended invites to the BMS Aston team & the Vitaphone Maserati MC12 so we may finally get to see a 550 DBR9 Corvette C6R & a Maserati MC12 battling it out for GT1 honours.

Now that should make things very interesting, been waiting to see a Mazza MC12 cutting up the pack for some time.

And that pdf reminded me.... how good to those Panoz sound - I can almost here the cars all screaming past!

2007 looks like its gonna be a great year

I doubt we are going to see either Porsche or Mazza's this year as Penske, Dyson and one of the top directors have stated they are concentrating on ALMS. The MC12 doesn't adhere to ACO rules so its not allowed to race at LM, but the team could enter another car that will be allowed in GT1 as the entries are for the teams rather than specific cars.

From what I have read, both Porsches have automatic qualification for LM 2007 but are likely to be run by privateers rather than a factory effort.

Is anyone aware of any privateers planning to run any BMWs? About time that marque represented again.

As I understand it, if Porkers are entered by different teams they will have to qualify as what I said before applies about the teams getting the automatic place.

I haven't heard of any other teams other than Penske and Dyson buying the Spyders. Does anyone know any different?

the Maserati definately wont be there and never will. Penske and Dyson wont bother with Le Mans either, our best bet is someone like Sebah finding funding to bring their RS Spyder.

Shame. It's the Penske team that have already qualified.

I know that they were very keen to race the RS, but not had any offical whispers about whether they have plumped for the RS or 997 RSR...will keep posted if I hear anything

Although the Maserati does not appear to adhere to current ACO rules, it appears that some sort of deal has been struck & with a little fine tuning I see no reason why Vitaphone would not go racing with an MC12 at Le Mans, after all it would be in the best interests of GT1, providing they can conform.

I have just e-mailed the Penske racing team and asked them.

I'd like to see the JLOC Lambo again, yes I know it didn't finish, but was by far the best sounding on the track!

Looking forward to this year and we'll be at Karting Nord. MC12 will be an interesting dark horse and can it survive 24 hours

Absolutely agree with that 100%. I was very pleased for them when they finished too. We'd given them 4 hours tops at the start!

Great sounding car, the flame out of the back at the end of pit straight was great.
