Dear all,

For the last couple of years on the way home, that bloody traffic going through Rouen has been a bother. We missed our ferry in 2005 and despite leaving an hour earlier in 2006, we damned near missed the 6pm ferry again.

Has anyone clever plotted a way around this?

Thanks chap. You're right. It doesn't help at all . We sat for best part of 2 hours in 06. At least the large Cohibas kept us busy

Take the A28 to Jct 14 Bernay.D834 to Lieurey,D810 to Pont-Audemer,stay onD810 to Notre -dame-De-Gravenchon,then pic up the D87/N15 to jcn 9 of the A29/E44 Travel north for 20 mins and pick up the A28 again..
It takes away all the traffic and the roads are long/straight and fast and toll free even the bridge is free.
Guy if you look at the map the route is basic and takes you to the west of Rouen. My dad first used this 22 years ago lol. If you use it you will say,Traffic What F'ing traffic. There are no speed cams on this route. Did it 3 weeks ago.

There is an easy way and hard way.

From Calais, if you go on the on A28 heading for Rouen, follow signs
ROUEN CENTRE.
Then TOUTES DIRECTIONS

This takes you around Rouen, passing by the railway line. Should take about 20 mins to get though. Just keep on that road. Just do the reverse on the way back.

DON'T go through the middle of Rouen as it is a total nightmare.

Another route is as follows, used it once and was good and quick.A28 jct 14 Gace slip off and follow N13 to Evreux( watch speed cam near town)On very fast run into town. Get on the N154 and head north to Jct 19.Pick up the N15 to Pont De-L'Arche and then the D321 to Reury-sur andella. Then the D921 will take you straight to Jct 9 of the A28-E402 then just go north.

I don't recall having been through the centre of Rouen. The bit I always get stuck at is the multi-laned bit coming around Rouen I think which is pretty much all industrial and has a SARTHE (pescarolo sponsor) office along the way.

Thanks for the other info gents. I am off to Le Mans this Friday for a meeting with the ACO to finalise the location of my private camping area in the BSJ sorted (only 34 of 90 tickets left now!) so I can try that route out.

To be fair, e36guy complained about the way home... I left early monday morning last year (about 6:30), got to rouen just before 8 and got stuck in the traffic. I still made my 13:00 ferry though.

Yup. We left approx 11am being a leisurely bunch and the traffic was nightmare.

Off to Le Mans crack of dawm tomorrow (Friday) to meet lass from ACO and check out my private campsite. Got 61 cars coming so far so need to make sure all is in order! 29 spaces left. If anyone is interested drop me an email.
