I will be in Beausejour for the first time this year, and seeing as it is rather far off everything else, I am making plans on what I will be needing. So far, I have only secured the obvious small stuff (gazebo, table, tents...). But is it worth taking a genny? How about a fridge? Anything else I might not have thought about? If all goes well, space won't be a problem (jags are quite big aren't they? ).

I was getting worried about moving around too, what are your thoughts on Go-Peds?

no electric hook ups in BSJ so you will need that genny, and a confortable pair of shoes for the long walk (about 30 mins from the action)

We stayed there 2 years ago and had a great time using the facilities on the site. The bars and kebab places kept us fed and beered for the 3 nights. For a first year I'd just enjoy the race, check out what other folk bring along and have plenty of drinks with everyone on site.

This year is our 3rd and we're only just getting to the point of fridge, generator and tables. Whatever the situation, you'll have a ball!

I guess that's food sorted then! I would have thought it would be pretty expensive though... Also, it will be my third year at Le Mans, but my first year in Beausejour... I didn't have a table last year, which would have been good if only for breakfast, and I got a bit sick of warm beer after a while...

When we were there the site had a couple of kiosk type places which sold cans and had Kronenbourg on tap. If it hadn't been for Cedric who was constantly working the pumps we'd have struggled though.

Have you seen the SpeedChills guys on BSJ? We used the facilities at Donington for the LMES last year and found them to be an absolute godsend!! The morning after the beers with DFH that bacon butty and coffee was the best I've ever tasted.

You can get a half decent mini genny from Halfrauds for about £60. Then get an outdoor lighting rig of some kind (mine is 20 low watt bulbs for about £30) then a £10 gazebo from Argos. Worth having a gazebo for shelter not only from rain but from sun!

Oh yes, very much missed the gazebo last year... Will a 800W ish genny do then? I may well take a little fridge... Undecided yet.

I'm staing in beasejour aswell, first time at le mans but definitely not first time doing the whole festival/roadtrip/camping type thing.

Things my group have already noted down to take -

12 mant tent
Alu camping beds
Picnic table
Lights
Chairs
Generator
Projector/bedsheet/laptop for cinema hanging off trees at night
Big gas stove/burner thing

etc etc...

People keep telling me about this long walk, so we're contemplating bringing bikes, not our decent ones, but some out of a skip or something.

Having said that, hal an hour is nothing anyway. Too many people dont walk anywhere at all this day and age!

Alex & Snotrag. You two are in the same gang.

Alex - an 800w genny will be fine for lights etc. Utterly pointless bringing a fridge. It can be so hot that the fridges take hours to even part-cool anything. Then, as soon as you open that door you undo all it's hard work!

Much better idea is to get a proper insulated coolbox. Then off to the supermarket and get a couple of bags of ice. This will keep your beer cool for about 2 days amazingly. Mine does anyway!.

Alex - if you are bringing lights, make sure they are of the outdoor variety! Well worth having though. String them up on the inside of your Gazebo.

Snotrag, looking forward to seeing this cinema set up of yours. Suggest we play Steve McQueen's Le Mans movie on Friday night. I am trying to organise a Hog Roast for Friday at the mo so would be a nice little evening that. What would you do for sound?

Everyone says about the long walk.... what they don't say is, it aint that long and theres loads of buses going there anyway....

remember to lock everything down (theiving french pikeys).
Get speed chills tickets.
ignore what anyone says and camp in the woods for the shade.
No matter how desperate, if you are feeling ill, do not go anywhere near the communal bogs, they will make your stomach contents exit your body faster than linford christe (speed chills).
There is a sneaky short cut to get to the track side that you can go and watch the practice session from.
No problems with the traffic jams that happen at the other sites.
Get down wednesday/early thursday, jobs a gud un...

Exactly ProPlus. It's a bit of a walk but not that far!

These guys are in my private camping area on BSJ so they've got massive pitches reserved for them whenever they choose to show up. And it will be fenced off with some sort of security guarding for pikeys so shouldn't be any problems there.

Guy - we are working on the projector, but I think it will need a new bulb. And seeing as we bought it for about 65 quid, and a new bulb is a lot more than that...We will see!

Last time we took a cheapo amp and some speakers, most people have an ipod these days, or a plug a radio in.

It all depends on room in the car of course!

Our most valued commodity is the big tent, makes such a difference being able to get dressed while standing up, and if the worse happens and we have a downpour, its just about big enough to sit around in on chairs.

Cool box sounds good, will sort one of those out for the tinnies.

What is this 'speed chills'?

speed chills basically hire a gite that is in yhe middle of the bsj site then put on food and beer if you buy a membership. they also supply camp passes but these are in the free for all section and not 'private'

They may also face a problem. When I met the ACO's marketing director he was telling me he has the massive french hump with the owner of the gite as he's not supposed to be letting it out and therefore making money out of Le Mans and he's trying to do something about it.

I am another BSJ PHer for this summer's festivites. Sounds like the walk isn't too bad and I didn't bank on being so close to the track through the woods! That will be fun! Would people recommend bringing bikes or something like to travel to the circuit or is the walk worth it to soak up the sun, take in the atmosphere, racing and cars? thumbup

We spent the night out at the fairground/pits/bars and the walk back to BSJ at 11am was quite possibly the worst experience at LM ever. Bikes are good but even then we may well have fallen off into a ditch. Be prepared for a 20 min stumble.

I'm a student so we have done much longer walks than that under the influence of a few cans! I once walked 10 miles home from Leeds city centre at 4am on New Years Day after considerable alcohol enjoyment! The walk to BSJ sounds like a doddle

There seem to be a few Yorkshire folks heading to BSJ too! We will be heading down from Huddersfield area on Wednesday - I feel a PH convoy coming on rofl

For gods sake try not to fall in the ditch on the way back, knows whats in it, but the smell alone was making a few of the people in our party retch uncontrollably.... The closest think I could think of was an open sewer!!!

Well it sounds like I may as well spend money getting the car to run then! Sounds like a good week end coming up!

Guy, just out of interest, how many PHers are there in the group?
