I was asked tonight whether I was excited about the imminent return trip to Le Mans with Team Peach Melba .... I went on typing and typing ... thought I'd share it ...

.... The need to live in a tent, inadequately washed, distinctly hungover and dreaming of cooked sausages rather than the dodgy effort we knocked out on the bbq earlier in the evening ....

...... eating some potatoe gooo the french only knock together to feed drunken englishmen and the smell of race fuel in the morning, the ambience of the tent on fire due to firework experiments and the heart stopping moments after the possible man sluaghter of a fellow fan with a couple of rockets taped together ...

..... the idea that the Griffith will undoubtedly have some sort of shitty issue, as it has in the last 2 years and that the Gendarmes will do their best to make sure that maxxing it as is traditional on the way home gets increasingly difficult.....

.... that pikey scum have got in to your mum's tent and nicked her handbag from under her bed and her, and done a bunk with everything that's important .... Spending the next day walking all over the circuit to eventually get replacement tickets, but also the joy of the bag turning up with everything barring cash and jewellery in it ... Cheers Team Langoustine for making the call ...

.... drunkenly dropping my wallet and losing it ... for it to be retrieved by PHers who know me, made the call and returned it .... The sense when you wake up on Sunday that they are still bloody racing, and the sheer thrill that it proves you are at the greatest motor racing event in the entire world ...

..... that in the month of June I shall have been to see World Superbikes at Silverstone again, camped for 3 days at Mugello for the Italian MotoGP which is meant to change you for life, easily putting Le Mans in the shade, seen the MotoGP at Donington again ... and Le Mans will remain the pinacle of all of all these events ..

The financial ruin that I shall be in by July but the memories .. Oh the memories ..

Racing flat out with BB, Gary and a GSXR750 on the way home .... staying up all night to see the sum come up .... drunken swimming races in the fountain 4yrs ago causing half of rob's hair to fall out .... our utter inability to maintain any kinda order in the camp site ... the original Peach Melba comment and that arse ... the moment BB's dad came over all Max Power and we found ourselves welded to the front of Vectras and the likes in the square smoking tyres ... sharing some poor french families meal as they felt sorry for the poor drunken englishmen ... blagging our way in to the champagne reception above the marshalling area for the parade, pretending we knew Martin Short .... last year not making it away from the bar in the same marshalling area all friday night and my mum's comment "you're pissed aren't you", "oh yeh !!" ..... The running out of fuel and people stopping on the way to seee if they could help .... stickering up cars in Supermarche car parks .... Neils black feet from living in flip flops for 5 days straight ... Going in a diesel golf and trying to make it perform like a TVR .... "It's clear, GO !! " " Go on, GO GO!!" to the response "I f*cking am!!!!" .... Chasing a 612 up the N138 until I got to overtake it .... Drifting the Griffith round one of them roundabouts on the N138 much to the amazement of the Porsche driver on the inside of me and Stavros ... After 30yrs of not being able to go, taking my parents out to Tetre Rouge at night to watch .... My parents face at the start and finish of a race they had wanted to come too for 30yrs was very special, they are racing fanatics and to see that was pretty special....

I'm only a junior at this. 5th anniversary this year, and many on here have several more years than that in. But if it is your 1st time, and you are in 2 minds, don't be. Just come. We all have friends who come for the event, who aren't even that interested in cars !!!

... Excited, you're joking, I'm bloody desperate !!

Wiping away a tear from my eye after reading that!

Not quite decided which I'm most excited about at the moment, going to the TT Centenary fornight or Le Mans. Either way it's going to be harder to find a better 3 weeks of 2 or 4 wheeled racing anywhere.

Corvette 1-2, Astons breakdown within 1 hour of the finish....again.

Very jealous over not making the Centenary TT, I've never been and this year looks to be the most competitive ...

Hey Johno, Pity you're missing the Isle of Man TT.......I've a feelin this years festival will be something very special......and if you DO go ....just ask some of us
guys that are from there or live there to give you some "top tips" on where to stay, watch, drink, eat and tour!

Dave(F308MAN)....found out that the ferries were full this a.m.! You going via Heysham? I may have an idea that helps you out. I'll e-mail ya mate.

As for being excited.........................................................................................................I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with me that I'm
thinking about this utterly brilliant 5 day weekend every single day!!!!

Quite simply.....I can't wait.

Rgds to all.

Will do! I'm there practice week with my dad at a hotel on Douglas prom, he loves the Classic Racing at Billown and we've got the 1907 TT re-creation at St Johns on Monday aswell. Then for race week I'm in a house in Onchan with a mate from here, some Yanks and a German.

You should find a few ferries places free up once they send out the balance requests and people decide that it's too expensive.

Well the accomodation is sorted but any other tips are welcome. Any little nuggets of wisdom of where to watch would be great - we've done a fair few places like Creg, Bray Hill, Hillberry, Signpost, Kirk Michael and Murray's but would like a few obscure gems this year. Remember I'll be in the Corvette so need to park up somewhere though.

I Have been looking forward to Le Mans 2007 for over a year now. I was gutted when the race clashed with uni exams last year, so I couldnt go, but this year there is no stopping me. Channel crossing, race tickets and campsite all booked, and im in the process of planning which stickers to get made up for the car!

I really cannot wait.
