I bought one of these last summer from eBay. Used a solar shower pack to warm the water then emptied into a bucket for use with the shower. Plugs into the fag lighter and works pretty well...

That doesnt look too bad when you consider how busy the queues are and how feeble the on site showers - especially for £20, might be worth a punt scratchchin

Is that like the one Clarkson bought? hehe

Come to think of it...do you actually need to warm the water?

I bought mine the other week at £9.99! Must have been a limited offer.

I think it would be quite nice to have a cold shower at 8am after you've been sweating your nuts off in the tent.

We've got the Coleman version of this and one of these (bought a week or two ago for a tenner).

It's great - we don't bother with building a shower cubicle or anything we just shower on the pitch in our swimmmers! We use the hot water generated by the solar shower bags and mix it in a bucket or similar.

Personally (even as a girl) I'm bothered about not washing for a few days but it's really nice to be able to have a shower on a really hot day.

Highly recommended even at £20!

Any chance of a pointer to the Coleman one? Tried a quick google with no luck... For a tenner it has to be worth a go!

Cheers,

Andy

Sorry my post was confusing! I bought the Maplins one in the opening post for a tenner a couple of weeks ago. They were reduced but are now back up to £20. I think they are still worth it at that price.

Our Coleman one came from the US as up to last year it was virtually impossible to get these without buying unbranded ones from ebay which didn't appeal to me.

I got one of these a couple of years ago, the shower head goes between the horizontal x bar and outer fabric of one of the Blokes trusty gazebos.

However we are taking a beach style windbreak to box the whole affair in this time after Bald Blokes fat arse being on show while the rest of us were trying to eat breckie last year.

Powered it from one of those cheapy halfords jump start battery packs. Lasted 8 blokes 4 days so not too bad at all.

My Maplin shower arrived this morning in the post. Tried it with the car cigarette lighter power this morning, was impressed, although it empties a standard bucket of water quite quickly. "Why take one bucket into the shower, when you can take two, one to shampoo, one to condition".

Does anyone know how it perform on the 4 D batteries? How long will they last? I was considering running it on batteries initially (freedom from wires) and then switching to car power when they died.

Ahh there is a knack to using these if water is short!

Get yourself wet - turn the shower off (there is a switch on the handset of the Maplins one), lather, then turn the water back on and rinse

We used ours for the 24 and the Classic last year on batteries and it worked fine on one set of batteries so I don't think it's very power hungry.

Using this with warm water is a much better system than just using the solar shower bags although the bags are useful to generate the hot water.

Excellent, I'll stick a couple of sets of batteries in the bag and see how we get on. I'm thinking a wind break will make a suitable cubicle, as we are an all male party, we don't need too much height.

Wind breaks aren't very high - you might want to check the height laugh

I've just bought a shower/toilet tent from Towsure - about £40 including postage - it'll save faffing around with building anything (although I recognise you boys appreciate the engineering challenge!).

Oh yes, the great british public didn't fund my engineering degree for nothing. If I didn't attempt to implement some of my advanced learning at Le Mans it would never see the light of day. You should have seen my attempt at a gas heated shower I concocted a couple of years ago. Adjacent campers thought I was ill, and the shower was some sort of dialysis machine. Then it got an air lock and nearly exploded.

It's been cold showers ever since. Using the on-site showers would have been contrary to the spirit of things.

I think I'll probably go with the "some bloke emptying a bucket of water over your head" technique

Nothing that a quick spray of deodorant and a dab of talc wont cure!
