The cost of Lemans?
Discussion
£1,000 =
On a more budget concious level....
Ferry = £40-300
Entry Ticket = £40 on the gate
Camping = free to sleep in your car in the car park, £40-200 for a camping ticket from the ACO or eBay
Fuel = 250miles from Calais to LM = so between £50 for diesel or £200 for a supercar.
Beer and Food = whatever you want to spend, a case of beer from the supermarket costs the same as a pint in the city centre bars.

Jesus - £1,000???? Gold plated tent?
Ferry - £60 to £25 - depending which crossing, when and whether you can still land any cheap crossings. (poss cheaper if you're lucky)
Fuel - depends on the car, petrol prices are not much different in France, diesel is a bit cheaper - work it on multi-map and it'll tell you the mileage from home to Le Mans.
Camping pass - £40 to £££ - you can still buy Beausejour from the ACO At face value - check that out on www.lemans.org , order your General Admittance tickets from there as well.
Beer, food etc. on the campsite and the circut - up to you, can be cheap and cheerful, can be expensive.
Depending on how many of you over how many cars, you could do a short trip for no more than £150 per person. I'd guess we spend around £300 each for the week but that's eating and drinking well and with extra passes for MB so we've got enough space.

Our costs (per head for 2 to a car/tent) last year were:
NorfolkLine Ferry £18
Camping at Bleu Nord £17
Entry ticket £35
Fuel (Griff500) £85
Total £155
Plus at least the same again for beer and food. If you're on a budget, about £400 should see you having a perfectly good Le Mans experience!

In my little group (7) we're paying/paid less than £150 each for camping, entry tickets, ferries, BnB on way down, vinyls for 3 cars etc etc.
All we have left to pay is motion potion, beer, and food, for 3 cars and 7 people. Realistically it shouldnt be more than £400 each even if we do some serious drinking. Which we will.
Edit to say - we only decided we awere going in February... So this is not even the cheapest that is possible. Were staying with Guy E36 in his litle fortress in the corner of BSJ, about 200 people.
Also to add - Norfolkline ferry all the way, booked 3 cars with 7 people, came to about 16 pounds per person, return. Bargain!

Snotrag - I know you're coming from ooop nerth but surely there is no way you'll have to pay £400 each.
Per person assuming 2 in car estimate:
£50 each for camping (cos you're in a premium area
)
£100 each for fuel (tops I reckon)
£19 each ferry
£12 each graphics
£18 each tolls (total for return journey)
I make that £149 each for fixed costs and food/beer down there is cheap as chips. Clearly there is investment required in terms of camping equipment but that's a one off.

Guy - this is an extremely rough estimate, everything rounded up. For instance, all fuel calculated at UK prices, but i guess its cheaper in France.
And remember, for us its a 7 day trip, No cocking about with a 'long weekend' for us!
Anything under budget, is a bonus, basically.

E36 Guy, you've not included GA tickets.
In my experience, its very easy to spend £200 per person on food and drink over the seven day trip, that's less than £30 per day.
Food and drink is not really "bargain prices" in France anymore - it's better quality than you get in the UK but no longer a bargain.
£400 for a weeks holiday is a bargain and a price I'm happy to pay.
To the OP - also don't forget to factor in (and split across the group) any additional cost for Green Card cover for vehicles. I'd also highly recommend you at least make sure everyone has the new E111 - and seriously consider getting travel insurance.

lol told you I was a spendthrift
Fuel from the north east to LM and back is going to be quite a chunk in my car, ferries, tickets, food and drink for the weekend (4 days), camping gear (none of which I have), hotel for at least 1 night, loads of booze and ciggies for the weekend, and I'm not expecting a lot of change from a bag of sand.

For this year at least, taking my car over is a no no as it would cost me a rare old wedge...probably in excess of £200 there and back, plus tickets, ferry crossing, camping, beer and grub, its easy to see how fast it escalates
Im hoping to go over with a friend, contribute to fuel etc and see where that can get me
I just need a friend now
On the plus side, Im incapable of drinking too much...bit of a lightweight these days. I dont smoke either so thats gonna save some wonga

Me & my VX220:
Ferry - £34 out, £19 back = £53
Staying in Boulogne Wed evening = £20
Tickets (entry & camping) = £74
Petrol (800 miles) =~ £150
Tolls = £36?
RAC cover = £? (I've got annual full Euro cover already)
Travel insurance = £? (Haven't arranged it yet...£20?)
Food/beer = £100?
Total =~ £453 plus spending money.
eta: forgot about tolls

where are you guys getting these extremely cheap ferries from?
best I could find was £50.

5 mates and I are off with Team Langoustine (and all associated benefits that entails
) for £164 each, but that includes a fantastic grandstand seat each, Houx Annexe camping for 6 and a race ticket each.
we're going over on the ferry with the Group 20 car club boys (
) so that's £85 per two people..worth it for the sight of a couple of lambos & ferraris at full chat!
all in all, I calculate that it will cost us £206.50 each plus fuel (about £70 each) and then at least £50 on food and booze from the supermarket...not including what we spend in the champagne tent on saturday night, or on the night out in Le Mans centre after the drivers parade
so, it seems to me that about £400 seems an average cost
