What's the story with good hotels around the place. How easy is it to get into the track? Is there good fun to be had in the surrounding areas too? I may be travelling down but would be going with some fussy people who wouldn't like to camp, at least not our first time there anyway! I know 99% of hotels would be well booked out months ago but you never know the magic of waiting lists. What are the best hotels around? Is there any companies offering any packages? I promise in 2008 i will camp, but this time i just don't think it's doable Please don't crucify me!

Fussy people that don't like to camp = not getting into the spirit of things and would be better left at home

I understand that you get "fussy" people. However, the first time my GF came with me she wasn't expecting scenes such as this: www.jeremyp.net/lemans-2005/lemans-2005-Pages/Image5.html

She still doesn't like camping - but she does understand it's all part of LM.

I haven't camped since 1988 and I have no intention of doing so ever again. Those poxy Jaguar fans kept me and the missus awake all week acting like a bunch of pissed teenagers and we decided to stay in a hotel the following year. Stayed in three different ones since then and every time have met up with racegoers and had some great eveenings' entertainment. Friday night in abusy French hotel full of LM people is great,as is that hot shower and soft sheets on Sunday.

So there!

Funky wavey at this stage of the game, I think you should contact Le Mans Tourist Board. The first year I went they came up trumps with a house for 10 people! The French family moved out and just came back to cook us breakfast. It worked out brilliantly. I know it's not a hotel, but they will certainly know what's available.

Good luck!
