A four-man tent from Decalthon (own brand : Quecha) costs about 100 euros over here, if that helps.

This one seems like a bargain to me:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl

If you compare it to the cost of the same one from Argos:

You need to decide on your priorities. Mine these days are one I can stand up in the bedroom area, and have room for a chair in the front area so if its wet I can stay dry!

Once you have decided on your essentials you can look at suitable tents, and I suggest going to places where they have a good selection which ae on display.

You can stand up in this one and have a chair at the front....(and I don't have any connection to the seller!)...

Cooperlola is right. Decathlon is on the Mulsanne straight and they have every type of tent from bivouacs to five bedroom monsters and in all types of quality. I had a look on the site and this should do the trick:-

www.decathlon.fr/FR/Product_arborescence/mountain/hiking/hiking-tents/touring-tents/product_5418168/index.html

Usually much cheaper to buy camping gear here than in the UK and saves the hassle of packing on the outward journey.

But, on the other hand, for just over £100 you get a walk in monster like this:-

www.decathlon.fr/FR/Product_arborescence/mountain/hiking/hiking-tents/campsite-tent/product_5435615/index.html

It all depends what you really want - just a bigger tent or one you can stand up in and put a table inside in case it rains. Whatever, much much cheaper here than over your side of the stream

I would certainly recommend a 'bashing one off' proof tent, where you can use a torch inside but no one out side knows what is occuring inside. So if you should spot an Hawian Tropic and log it into your w**k bank then your tent will provide all the necessary cover for an evenings solo entertainment.Millets may have a special section for such tents.

Funnily enough I've just bought a tent. Not a big one - two man job, but it's jolly nifty. Got it from Millets - £39 and it puts itself up! Worth it for the novelty value alone but it's actually quite a good tent. 3/5 waterproof rating (whatever that actually means in the real world). You literally take it out of the bag and throw it in the air and Voila! One fully erected tent. (Stop sniggering at the back!)

They do a 3 man version which is really large for about £59 IIRC.

For people who are interested in that kind of tent but cannot take one from the UK, Decathlon do some of those too. 2 and 3 second range (it takes that long to put them up...) I will be going for something a little bigger myself, we were two in a three man tent last year with no gazebo, never again! This year a 9 or 10 man tent is on the cards. We're still two though

Thats the only way to do it! Theres only two of us, but it comfortably sleeps 5 and has a living area, the Lounge I like to call it, then off from that we have the gazeebo, or the "terrace". With windows and dual doors.

Anything by Gelert will be good quality and a reasonable price. Halfrauds are doing a 4 man (2bedrooms and centre area) plus inflatable matresses and kipping sacks for £99.

Only trouble with a lot of these bumper bargain tent/sleeping bag packs is that the sleeping bags are cheap as chips One Season ones, i.e. only use if really warm or you'll freeze to death.

I've yet to see any pictures of snow for the Le Mans 24, It's central France in June, this year it may be wet, overcast, or even windy, but after the last couple of years, you won't need to worry about being cold... Anyway, you'll have a beer-coat on which will help you sleep warmly!
