Get a couple of solar showers and hang'em from a tree, then spend the rest of your time watching cars and drinking beer.

We use:

One of these www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48810&criteria=shower&doy=24m4 (we use the Coleman version mainly but I have the Maplin one and it works well)

We then heat water using a couple of cheap solar shower bags but then decant it into a pot/bowl/bucket/water container and mix it to the right temperature and drop the submirsible pump into it. The solar shower bags can get too hot to use on their own and(in the absence of handy trees in most of the campsite spots) are tricky to suspend unless you're going to build some kind of tower!!

If there isn't enough sun (and you'd be amazed how quickly the solar bags cool) we heat water in a pot on Coleman dual fuel stove (ie very quickly) and mix it to temperature.

In previous years we've not bothered with a shower tent and have just showered in our swimmers on the pitch! I have though just ordered one of these to avoid scaring the neighbours! www.towsure.com/product/14657-Shower/Toilet_Cubicle You could just construct your own cubicle if you like the challenge but I've come to the conclusion a purpose built tent is probably less hassle!

I know some folks that have one of these www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0038862517356a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=zodi&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=zodi&noImage=0 and say that it's fab.

I'm not especially bothered about being clean during LM week but it's really nice to be able to cool off under the shower.

You could always save all that hassle and money and use the 2 litre bottles of spring water that will get left out in the sun. Take cap off, poor over head. Simple, warm and effective thumbup.

Glad you like the Maplin car shower as I bought one the other week! Traditionally we have used a pump up shower, effectively like one of those weedsprayer bottles that you pressurise, but with a shower attachment.

There is a double toliet cunicle tent you can get that creates more space. We have a paddling pool we stand in so the ground doesn't get muddy, and as we are in expo attach tarpaulins to the cattle sheds to create a large area.

Paddling pool as a shower tray is a good idea, some friends of mine do that. On MB we don't find it get's too muddy but there are only a few of us using the shower and the weather has been good enough that it's not a problem.

You do that but a motorhome is against the spirit of Le Mans IMHO.

Your in Expo? Brilliant, thanks for the invite to use your shower. Can you make sure there's some warm water in it for about 9-10 in the morning, thats when I'll prefer a shower. Also if you could make sure there is some Dove Triple Moisturising body wash, organic shampoo, and some freshly washed and pressed towels in there it would be much appreciated. Cheers. thumbup.

Where can you get camping showers from? Not interested in heating, it's plenty hot enough out there and if not, I'll be grateful for a cold shower after 4 hours drunken sleep...

This is our effort for Le Mans last/this year... Lots of heat and water pressure. Is made from a camping stove and a boat pump, with the secret valve

No not that complex...

Allows the water to re-Circulate to get some heat in the water.

Worked fine for 6 of us last time, a few more cable clips and its 100%

You can get them from Millets style camping shops. You can probably also get them in hypermarkets out there - they seem to stock more camping gear in French hypermarkets than camping-specific shops in Britain! (about a tenner max)

We use ours for washing-up water mainly. They do get bloody hot! Far too hot for showering in typical Le Mans heat IMHO!
Besides, it part of the Le Mans experience to queue for an hour in 35 degree heat, in the smelliest toilet/shower block in the world! (Camping Bleu!)

You know what, we used to feel the same, the roughing it was all part of Le Man, as with festivals. Saying that the folks sleep in the motorhome and me and the missus and everyone else sleep in tents! Last year was the first outing for the motorhome and after a weekend of a queue-less shower, clean toilet, bit of air conditioning, decent fridge and Motors TV, from now on, I wouldn't want it any other way!! IMHO it simply adds just the right amount of comfort to the best and most important weekend of the year!!

Although, for the classic in 2008, we will be roughing it, tents only!!

We built a great shower using 2 lorry inner tubes as our solar heating devices (black and heat absorbing), worked quite well, but needed a pump to draw the water out (the inner tube expansion absorbed the pressure from the tap), but one morning the electric drill running the pump went up in flames!!! so we ended up using the shower (a Robert Dyas hanging basket watering hose attachment)straight from the hose. We found that in the normal LM heat and a few extra meters of hose on the white roof of our trailer the water (bearing in mind that the hose ws prob 40m meters from the tap as well, and also heated by the sun) was luke warm enough for very nice continuos showers by mid morning. Another tip is to buy a toilet tent from ebay, but extend the legs to provide enough headroom rather than treating the other campers to the sight of one scrubbing ones clangers in public.
