Particularly useful for anyone going to Le Mans is this French government website. Search by département (county) or by town and it shows all the petrol stations and the fuel prices.

No prices are published for 98-octane fuel, but most stations sell it, usually a couple of pence more than standard unleaded.

The site's in French, but it's pretty self-explanatory. SP95 = unleaded, gazole = diesel. Click on the station name to find the address and opening hours.
