2 way radio,s.??
Discussion
Now then folks.
Is it worth getting a set of 2 way radio,s for keeping in touch with "ones" party ...ie walking round the pits, village, circuit, generally getting lost.. etc etc ..???
I saw a few people with them last year ,, but i thought if lots use them, all youd get is garbled chatter / feedback...
Any thoughts..???

NO NO NO NO NO !!!!
I can't tell you how bad these things are.. Last year we did the same except we bought the expesive long range ones. They were cr*p, most of our time was spent repeating every word..
In the end one message got mixed and we missed the petrol station. In the end on the way back we got so fed up and all fell out over the things which ended up in us chucking the things over the side of the ferry.

I have just setup a number of PMR446 radio's with a dedicated talk group. Digital talk key distributed to all members of the talk group.
Last year, I used the Kenwood 5 watt TK3107's that I use fo rmy bike autocom and they were great. all weekend, you could just about reach Carfore from mason Blanche. Good 5 - 10 miles range on the open road too.

My group have used boggo PMR466 BT units on the drive down for the last couple of years with no complaints. At £40 they weren't exactly bank-busting, and at a verified 1.5 miles distance outside of Abbeville they were pretty useful too...
We have added a pair of £15 cheapies from Argos this year, and initial tests seem to show them to be none-too-shabby either...
Highly recommended for saving on phonebills between cars.

They are quite useful, but you do have to listen to a lot of garbage spoken by other people - but that can sometimes be fun to interupt. Useful on the journey down as it saves mobile costs as long as the cars are close enough together. I have a relatively cheap pair of Cobra walkie talkies bought in Maplin and the range is about a mile when the batteries are fresh.
If I was seeing Pete before setting off you could borrow mine until we meet up, but probably won't happen.
