Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stop early on on the n138 just after Rouen? I'd like to be on the road so we can view the passing exotica.

Thanks

Just after you leave rouen and enter the N138 ( this is a left hand turn opposite a garage )

As you go down the hill round a bend to the left there is a right hand turn which leads to an excellent place to eat and have a drink and plenty of cars stop for lunch and to use the hedge !!!

Have fun

We used to stop somewhere on the N138. Can't remember the name of the place but there's a nice country pub on the right I think just after Bernay. There are a couple of sharp bends then a long straight with a layby on the left opposite the pub, usually full of Brit cars. They have a nice beer garden out back and do gammon and chips etc. And nice beer of coursesmile

....is that on the n138 as it skirts Bernay or do you come off and go through Bernay itself?

As I recall it it's not far after you rejoin the main N138 after the Bernay bypass.

Thanks for that, that is very helpful. Just looked at a map and it is just about the perfect distance down the N138 for us to have a break.

welshnobby, TvRdriver's post relates, I think, to:

Traiteur au Rendez-Vous d'Chasse Restaurant
Gare de La Londe
76500
France

Phone: +33 (02) 35 18 03 39

As he says, it's south of Rouen, a little after hitting the N138, when you go downhill: at the bottom of the hill look for a track off to the right. The restaurant is off the road but there will be plenty of Brits stopping there. You need to be early for lunch to get a table. R.

Not a place to eat, exactly, but as you're exiting Rouen on the N138 make a detour around the old Rouen track. Leaving Rouen city through St Etienne du Rouvray (past Ibis hotel), head towards Les Essarts and you'll find yourself on the track itself! See map pic below:

It is, I drove it last year on the way back. No evidence of the old circuit, sadly, grandstands were pulled down around five years ago and even the cobbled hairpin has been resurfaced, also the last part is no longer there but worth it as an appreciation of how great it must have been to drive (and dangerous! - imagine Fangio in the sweepers on the way down to the hairpin in a full four-wheel drift...)

Here's the circuit on Multimap:

welshnobby, See Kevin's post just above? Have a look at the circuit map, enlarge a bit, see where the N138 crosses the railway? That's where the restaurant is. R.
