Can’t see an obvious section. Are you sure this idea of banning ticket ads from the forum is working? Ad’s seem a lot more scarce than previous years and I really had to dig around for the ad’s that are there.

You can put up a "wanted ad" - its the advertising of Tickets "for Sale" that is not being allowed...

Problem with the Classified section is that there's no category for Le Mans tickets, you'd think they'd go in 'Motorsport' but there isn't a section for them so people are posting the ads in 'Other/Non-Motoring/Miscellaneous' section which is hardly accurate and they get lost amongst all the snide watches and other detritus.

A good while back I asked (in the feedback forum) if we could have a 'For Sale/Wanted' sticky thread as this has worked well in the past and is a high profile and effective way of solving people's ticket requirements, as well as a good way to introduce people to the website, as it is folk are more likely to just use the services of a popular auction website, real enthusiasts will lose out and get fleeced, the ice caps will melt and polar bears will drown, think of the children etc etc....

May I be so bold as to ask why the change of heart this year?

Dave

Consistency - we dont allow advertising in the forums -

Its been let slide in the past and it was getting to become an issue last year - Commercial Enterprises were taking the pee and its a bit of a smack in the face to the people that do actually pay to advertise on the site.

Fair enough.
Any chance of a dedicated ticket section in the Classifieds though?
I'm sure the sellers of all the other non motoring related items would appreciate not having their wares pushed to the back pages by the flood of last minute ticket offers.

I've just put a little ad in the Misc section under other.
I am not expecting any response as I feel it is lost already. I think having a ticket sale section would be excellent as many on here buy and sell at cost, the alternative is fleabay, which does no one any favours.

Sorry but I don't agree with this. I've sold tickets on here the last couple of years as we've had drop outs in our group, but they've always been sold at cost.

I could quite easily dump them on flea bay at a profit to add to the beer fund for the week but would much rather they go to another enthusiast. It's not that hard to spot the commercial posters on the forum and bin them and to be honest I've got a bit bored of seeing some of the nepotistic type posts with regard to some of the agencies anyway.

As long as regular posters are selling at cost why should there be an issue ?

Got me tickets now but agree with the other posters on here. Either have a single heavily moderated buy/sell/swap thread with a sticky in this forum or a dedicated category in the classifieds. smile

It's always worked well in the past so it seems odd not to have a thread as in previous years.

The Team Lang thread is still stickied at the top though? Presumably they've paid? What about (without wishing to pick on individuals)E36 GUY, he's clearly put together a group from the forum this year. Has that been done on a commercial basis with PH getting a fee?

In the meantime guys there are other forums with very active sale/swap forums where your ads will be very welcome and hopefully everyone can get sorted without resorting to ebay.

O.K. I'll put a thread up for PRIVATE sales only please. Hope it helps, and apologies to anyone who's struggled to sell unwanted tickets.

Please help by hitting the report button if you feel an advert is wrong. Thanks.
