easier to speed on the n138 then the autoroute?
Discussion
We're coming down on the Friday and could do with a high average speed if we're to make it to Arnage before everyone's gone to bed.
My preference would be to take the route where we there are less gendarme around? or am I kidding myself.
Also I've read if they catch you with a radar detector you're in big trouble - what's the practicality of using one and just stuffing it under the seat when pulled over?

If they suspected you had one they would search your car Kenny, issue a fairly hefty fine, and for good measure make you destroy it there and then.
With the recent shenanigans of the Gumball they will be out in massive force. I for one cannot run the risk of a 750€ fine or at worse having the car impounded.
Just be very careful if you are giving it some Kenny, I'd rather your car didn't get crushed, I might want to buy it one day

I do the trip a lot and it's 4 hours Calais to LM, almost bang on if you keep to the limits (via m'way). I do speed a bit but only on long uphill stretches on the motorways where the gendarmes have nowhere to hide. Their favorite spots are just over brows of hills where they've got you before you notice them!

Can't you just chuck the radar out of the window if you get pulled so they can't find it? It's going to get crushed anyway and you could then plead ignorance or dispute the accuracy of their equipment? My preference would be to take the route where we there are less gendarme around? or am I kidding myself.

so are the gendarme all over the n138 as they are the autoroute?

There were a lot of solid white lines on the N138 last year that prevented many an overtake (€90 fine if you cross them I think) so speeds were reduced behind lorries etc.
yep, dave in the Mosler got pulled for just that in France last September on MegaHoon.Kenny, the feds are EVERYWHERE ... best on the autoroute to make best steady time I reckon.
I don't think I'll be able to make the Premiere tomorrow night as we're bang in the middle of a TV commercial
